Experience the living history of Madison while strolling through a collection of the city's finest archi tecturally significant private homes.The self-guided tour features homes within walking distance of the Madi- son-Morgan Cultural Center. The 2017 Spring Tour will include distinguished private homes, as well as the 1895 graded school building which houses the Romanesque Madison-Morgan Cultural Center. Together, these grand structures and gardens tell the story of a genteel, gracious city. Tickets are $30 for a single-day tour and $40 for the two-day experience, and can be purchased online at www. madisoninmay.com. Friday, April 7- Friday, May 5 The Madison Artists Guild is building another Great Art Wall of Madison. We are asking professional artists, amateur artists, budding artists and anyone who wants to partici pate to create an 8x10 painting that will then become part of The Great Art Wall of Madison. Sections of the wall will be displayed in many locations around town before the entire wall will come together at the unveiling on May 13. Sunday, April 30-Saturday, May 27 The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art is proud to announce the opening reception of Placing the Capstone III, the third annual "College Connections" exhibition featur ing graduating studio art majors from Professor Kristin Casaletto's capstone class at Augusta University. Twenty artists will be showcased in this group, and the works will include paintings, photography, sculpture and ceramics in styles ranging from representational still life to surreal ism. Friday, May 12 The Country Road Cruisers Springtime Cruise-In and Car Show will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown Mad ison. Registration begins at 5 p.m. We will close off West Jefferson Street from Main Street to the Town Park for the cars and our DJ. Spectators can enjoy the free show with cars from around Georgia, Alabama and the Caroli- nas. Car show participants pay only $15 and there will be over 20 awards and trophies. Saturday, May 13 The Madison Artists Guild invites everyone to come and cel ebrate the unveiling of the 2017 Great Art Wall of Madison from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Madison Artists Guild Gallery on Main Street. For the second year in a row, we'll have the entire wall on display. Those who purchase $30 tickets will be in the drawing to receive one of the canvases as we dismantle the wall. So join in on the celebration. We'll have drinks and tasty treats. Tickets are now on sale. We'll only sell as many tickets as we have canvases. Sunday, May 7 The Old School History Museum is hosting an installment of its "Sunday at the Musem" lecture series with a presen tation by writer Gould B. Hagler, "Georgia's Confederate Monuments: In Honor of a Fallen Nation" in the Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton. The lecture, and Hagler's book of the same name, look at how Georgia's Civil War history is expressed through its many monuments to the Civil War. A native of Augusta, Hagler is a graduate of Wake Forest and Georgia State University who writes and speaks frequently about Civil War history. The event begins at 2 p.m. and is free, with donations optional but appreciated. Light refreshments will be served after the lecture. Saturday, May 13 Eatonton Main Street, in partnership with the Georgia De partment of Family and Children Services, is presenting a Free Family Fun day from 12 to 4 p.m. Come to the Cotton Warehouse and learn about how to foster or adopt a child.
