With over 7500 items of beautiful, hand-made pieces there will sure be something for everyone! Contributed With over 7,500 pieces of contemporary functional and decorative pottery, OCAF's Perspectives Georgia Pottery Invitational is the largest event of its kind in the south. Perspectives: Georgia Pottery Invitational announces 15th annual event schedule Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF) pres ents the 15 th annual Perspec tives: Georgia Pottery Invi tational, the longest running all-pottery event in the state. The award-winning event showcases the works of 50 respected Georgia potters, exemplifies the finest pot tery being produced in the state and will be the largest show of its kind in the south as it features approximately 7,500 pieces of contempo rary functional and decora tive pottery for sale. It has earned the distinc tion as a “Top 20 Event” by the Southeast Tourism Soci ety for the third consecutive year. In addition to the pot tery sale, Perspectives hosts numerous activities during the three-week event: • Opening Gala Reception and Preview Sale, Friday, August 25,6-9 p.m., $20 admission, meet the artists, enjoy food and live music and be one of the first to purchase the pottery and view this year’s three exhibitions • Pottery demonstrations each Saturday from 1-4 p.m. • Gallery talks by Michael Pitts, Sept. 3 and 10 at 1 p.m. • Two-day Pottery Workshop with Naoki Izumi, Aug. 26 - 27 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Registra tion required. • Main Gallery Exhibition - “Participating Potters: 2017” will feature two of the best works from each of the 50 selected potters. • Members’ Gallery Ex hibition - “Echizen in Japan” features the pottery of Naoki Izumi in the Echizen tradition of yakishime (high-fired unglazed pottery). • Hall Gallery Exhibition - “In a Galaxy Not Far Away” features Beau Ray mond’s ceramic work that has arrived from light years away to bring joy, laughter and excitement to all Earthlings.
