family of Charles David
Robinson gathered at
a makeshift memorial
Tuesday afternoon.
Robinson, 47, was shot and
killed by a Greene County
deputy following a traffic
stop on Peachtree Street
near Woodville Pantry.

Robinson had just cele
brated a birthday the day
before.
Many had questions
about the details of Rob
inson’s death; most agreed
that race played a factor.

Good Samaritan Hospital
in Greensboro, according to
the GBI.
Easley was examined for
injuries sustained in the al
tercation at an undisclosed
hospital in Athens.
The deputy is on paid
administrative leave. He
has been employed by the
Greene County Sheriffs
Office since Nov. 12, 2013.
An emotional Greene
County sheriff Donnie
Harrison was reticent
to comment about the
incident during a brief tele
phone interview.
“First of all, I feel bad
for everyone involved,”
Harrison said. “Our prayers
go out to both of the families.
‘We immediately called in
the GBI and turned every
thing over to them. We want
to make sure this is a fair,
independent investigation.”
Robinson, 47, had been in
and out of prison since the
late 90s.
According to the Georgia
Church in Siloam, said he
had spoken with Robin
son’s sister, who was not in
attendance at the gathering
Tuesday.
“She is noticeably upset
and filled with questions, as
am I,” Johnson said.
Marvelle Thomas, a
friend of Robinson, asked
about body cameras as he
looked at markings on the
ground he believed to be
blood. Thomas believes race
was a major factor in the
incident.
Department of Corrections,
Robinson entered the penal
system in 1998 when he
was sentenced to five years
confinement for theft by re
ceiving stolen property.
Robinson was later sen
tenced to 10 years for the
same offense in 2000.
In 2003, Robinson was
sentenced to 24 months
for entering an auto in
Richmond County.
On April 28, 2012,
Robinson was convicted
for criminal interference
of government property,
disorderly conduct and

refused to comment about
the incident, saying he
would like for the GBI to
conclude its investigation
and for all the facts to come
out at once.
“This thing is very
volatile,” Harrison said. “It
is what it is.”
Services for Robinson
will be held Saturday at 1
p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist
Church in Stephens. Watts
Funeral Home is in charge
of the arrangements.

making terroristic threats
and acts in 2014.
According to the GBI
report, Robinson admitted
to Easley at the scene he was
driving without a license.
When Easley attempted to
arrest him, a scuffle broke
out and Robinson fled the
scene.

the Jasper County Sheriffs Office and the
Putnam County Sheriff s Office culminated
in the execution of two search warrants, one
in Morgan County and the other in Jasper
County.
Five individuals have been arrested, and
law enforcement recovered methamphet-
amine, marijuana, $2,600 in U.S. currency
and assorted firearms.
Jose Torres Hernandez, Jorge Dela
Trinidad and Gerardo Martinez were
arrested at 1550 Farrar Road, Newborn, and
charged with violations of the Georgia Con
trolled Substances Act, along with firearms
violations, and are being held without bond.
Two other individuals were arrested and
charged in Jasper County.
