Friday, September 8, 2017 Lake Oconee News Page B7 LAKE COUNTRY Rotary Club welcomes three new members The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam counties is pleased to announce the addition of three new mem bers to the Club: Dr. Avis Dickey, Leona Hodges and Jay Johnston. These mem bers have all been inducted into the Club within the last month. Dickey grew up in Havana, Fla. At the young age of nine, she started working in the tobacco fields where she continued to work until high school. She received her B.S. degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Florida A&M University, a M.S. degree in biology from Clark Atlanta University and Doctor of Business Admin istration in Management focused on Global Health with an advanced gradu ate business certificate in international business from Argosy University. She is a reserve officer in the U.S. Navy with tours of duty throughout Europe, Asia, South America and Central America. Her service dec orations include two Joint Service Achievement Med als and a Joint Service Mer itorious Unit Award. She has more than 30 years of management and executive level experiences in public health, healthcare administration, human cap ital management, person nel development, diversity management, academia and business. Since joining the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in February 2005 as a Career Senior Executive Service (SES) Member, Dickey has held positions in the office of the chief operating officer as the chief management offi cer for the office of workforce and career development, and has the distinction of being the agency’s first chief diversity officer and succes sion planning champion. Currently, Dr. Dickey serves as the senior advisor to the chief human resources offi cer/deputy ethics counselor, office of the chief operating officer with responsibilities for specific project. She is the proud wife and mother of three children. Leona Hodges grew up in Dublin. She graduated from Georgia Southern with a degree in nutrition. She worked as a registered dietitian for many years, but most recently has worked in sales and marketing. Her primary residence is in Augusta, but she will be moving to Lake Oconee permanently next year. She enjoys all outdoor activities and spending much of her time volunteering. Leona has three sons, 27, 25 and 16. Jay Johnston grew up in Atlanta where he attended Westminster Schools. In 1986, he graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. He contin ued his higher education at Brenau University in Gaines ville where he obtained his MBA in 1996. Jay currently lives in Buckhead on Lake Oconee. He also runs a real estate brokerage and residential construction business. Jay has two daugh ters age 24 and 26 who live in Atlanta. He enjoys all out door pursuits and is excited to become a member of the Rotary Club.
