Yvonne Butler Waters March 30,1942 - Sept. 1,2017 Janies Lewis Brooks June 16,1937 - Friday, Sept. 1,2017 James Wood Aug. 20,2017 Yvonne Butler Waters, 75, of Greensboro passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greens boro, Ga. with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Penfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cubis Aren Waters, Daniel Wayne Waters, Joshua Cubis Waters, Steven Strozier, Eric Higdon, Felix “Sam” Patrick and Rick Hermann. Yvonne was born in Tampa, Fla., March 30, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Cubis and Mabel Butler. She attended Springhead School and Mulberry School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in the ministry. She was the most giving, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend that you would ever meet. She had a God given desire to server others and lived a life that was an open book to what a Godly woman should be. She married Kenneth Aren Waters June 26,1959 and lived in Florida until they moved to Greensboro 18 years ago from Ocilla. Out of this union, they were blessed with five children. Yvonne was a member of The First Baptist Church of Greensboro and the Agape, Amicus Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Aren Waters in March, 2013 and two grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Waters Patrick and husband Felix “Sam” of Greensboro and Lisa Waters Chancey and husband Jeremy of Lithia, Fla.; three sons, Aren Waters and wife Vicky of Lexington, Daniel and Joshua Waters both of Greensboro; seven grandchildren, Christine Patrick Lockard, Felix Patrick, Jessie Waters, Haley Waters, Kendall Patrick, Cassie Waters, and Austin Chancey; a great-grandchild, Kaelon Lockard; a sister, Carolyn Earls of Mulberry Fla.; a brother, Cubis Wayne Butler, Sr. of Perry Fla. and a number of other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at the McCommons Funeral Home Chapel in Greensboro, with the Rev. Danny Walker officiat ing. Interment followed in the Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Greensboro. Pallbearers were Miller Johnson, John Long, Robert Motley, Mark Lipscomb, Charles McDade, William Nesbitt and Robert Johnson. James was born June 16,1937 in Atlanta and was the son of the late Lovejoy Brooks and Mattie Tripp Brooks. He was a graduate of F. T. Corry High School and com pleted a program of study in business at Dartmouth College of Business. He went on to establish a successful career in Me chanical Construction and ran Don-Sie Contracting Co., Inc. in Atlanta where he completed construction jobs for numerous major companies all over Georgia and America. James married the former Virginia Jones on August 8,1965 at The First Corinth Baptist Church in Atlanta. They recently celebrated their fifty-second anniversary. James served on the Board of Directors for Lake Oconee Academy in Greensboro. Beloved and esteemed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, he was very community minded and very generous to all. He was a member of the Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church in Greensboro. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jones Brooks; a godson, Captain Miller Johnson; a grandchild, Brittney Mathis; a goddaughter, Candice Long and other relatives and many friends. Margaret Rhodes Winn Aug. 14,2017 Margaret Rhodes Winn, 71, of Eatonton passed away Monday, August 14, 2017. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at 11 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church, 4741 Carey Station Road, Greensboro with David Key officiating. A second celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 5 p.m. at the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Inc., 310 N Street West in Vidalia. Mrs. Winn was known to loved ones and friends as Peggy. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She always put everyone else before herself. Peggy was an avid golf and bridge player where she met so many great people she considered extended family. The love and kindness Peggy shared will always be in the hearts of everyone she touched. Survivors include her loving husband of 37 years, Hewell; her mother, Margaret Rhodes; two daughters, Dana Winn and Christy (Walter) Anthony; a brother, Willliam F. Memorial services were Tuesday August 29, 2017 at Lord & Stephens in Wat- kinsville. Mr. Wood was a graduate of North Georgia Tech in Golf Turf Management and has worked on several golf courses in Georgia and North Carolina. Mr. Wood’s love of his life was his daughter, Elizabeth. Survivors include his wife, Pilar Mandujano de Wood of Toluca, Mexico; his parents, Joe & Elaine Wood of Bishop; his daughter, Elizabeth Wood of Toluca, Mexico; a brother, Joey Wood and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dalton, resident of Morgan County died at home August 31, 2017 after an extended battle with cancer which he fought with grace and courage. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Bostwick United Methodist Church in Bostwick. Richard was born in Osborn, Ohio (now Fairborn, Ohio) January 25,1931, son of Olen and Angie Dalton. He attended Bath Township Elementary and High School where he grad uated in 1949. During his primary school years, in addition to academic studies, he was active in football, band, orches tra, dance band, barbershop quartet and chorus. Richard attended the University of Dayton where he was a member of the marching band. He graduated from Ohio State Univer sity with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Adminis tration and a Second Lieutenant Commission in the United States Air Force. He served five years in the Air Force, two of which were in Sidi Slimane, Morocco. After leaving the Air Force in i960, Richard started his career at IBM in Dayton, Ohio. He retired from IBM in Atlanta after a successful career of 32 years. In retirement, he has lived at Lake Lanier, Lake Oconee and finally on a small plot of 17 acres in Morgan County. During his lifetime, Richard has been involved in many church, civic, community and political activities, where he often served in leadership roles. Richard was interested in many things, including music, working with his hands, photography, duplicate bridge, computers, boating, reading, traveling, the theater, and neighborhood get-togethers. He especially enjoyed his final years doing home projects with his beloved friends and neighbors in the wonderful commu nity of Sweetbriar. Richard was a Christian who had a strong belief in God and in God’s Nature. He was especially grateful for God’s gift of freedom to mankind. Richard lived a full and happy life with few regrets. He died a happy man. His youngest son, Jeffrey Spencer predeceased him in 2007. Suvivors include his wife, Sheila of 39 years; a daughter, Sandra Dalton Job-Rivera; a son, David Scott Dalton (Chris); four grandchildren, Cameron Dalton (Kelly), Jessica Job, Stuart Dalton (Kate), Caroline Filacchione (Tyler) and two great-granddaughters, Morgan and Brooke Dalton.
