Morgan County officials asked citizens to observe a voluntary curfew Monday night from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning to help reduce the number of accidents and emergency calls. At that time, Morgan County had more than 5,000 customers without power. Two trees fell on Hwy 83 north of Madison and two more fell on power lines on Main St., the first near the Madison-Morgan County Cultural Center and the other on North Main St. close to the intersection of Billups Avenue. In Greene County, numerous trees fell in the Carey Station Rd. Parks Mill Rd. area. The Georgia Department of Transportation ordered crews to cease operations due to increased winds and the dangers to personnel at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon. A tree also fell across Linger Longer Rd. and South Main St. in Greensboro was blocked as well.
