“When we’ve completed
our investigation, it will be
turned over to the Greene
County District Attorney’s
Office.”
Chief Assistant District
Attorney Alley Mauldin is
slated to handle the case in
Greene County.
The incident occurred
during a traffic stop in the
Woodville community near
the Oglethorpe County
line on the night Hurri
cane Harvey made landfall
around 9 p.m.
The GBI’s initial report
stated a physical confron
tation occurred between
Deputy Conrad Easley
and Robinson resulting in
Robinson being tased as well
as Deputy Easley discharg
ing his firearm and striking
Robinson.
Easley was examined for
injuries sustained in the al
tercation at an undisclosed
hospital in Athens.
Robinson allegedly fled
the scene on foot and was
pursued by Easley for some
200 yards before the incident
occurred.
Easley remains on admin
istrative leave, according
to Greene County Sheriff
Donnie Harrison.
“We don’t want to
comment about the case
right now while it’s still an
ongoing investigation,” said
Harrison.
“It’s best if we just let the
GBI do their job, and then
we’ll be able to talk about it.”
According to the GBI
report, Robinson admitted
to Easley at the scene he was
driving without a license.
When Easley attempted to
arrest him, a scuffle broke
out and Robinson fled the
scene.
The Rev. Roi Johnson of
New Springfield Baptist
Church in Siloam, who
recently led a memorial
for Robinson, said Easley
should be just as much a
focus of the investigation as
Robinson.
“Two people know what
happened that night, and
one of them is dead,” said
Johnson.“Deputy Easley is
an overly aggressive law en
forcement officer who has
demonstrated he is too emo
tional to handle himself.”
