Man nabbed for forgery, prescriptions

Investigators with the Greene
County Sheriff s Office charged Dustin
James Funk, 32, of Carrollton, with 11
counts of first degree forgery and 11
counts of obtaining prescription drugs
by fraud on Oct. 12.
Thechargesstemmedfromamonths-
long investigation into Funk’s use of
false names during several emergency
room visits to obtain prescriptions for
medication. Funk was arrested in the
emergency room on Thursday without
incident following his 11th visit to St.
Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital
under an assumed name.
Evidence discovered during the
investigation indicated that Funk
may have committed these offenses
at other hospitals in the area. During
an inventory of Funk’s vehicle, several
sets of crutches, leg braces, arm slings
and empty prescription pill bottles
were found.
Additional charges are expected in
the coming days.

Interview with Mayor Fred Perriman

Mayor Fred Perriman is
often seen walking around
the downtown area, stopping
inandoutofstorestotalkand
to attend to business at city
hall. Lastmonth on adrop-in
visit, he was asked about
answering a few questions.
The mayor, a native of
Madison, is one of seven
children born to the late Mr.
Tommie and Lena Perriman.
In addition to serving as
mayor, he also serves as the
pastor of Ebenezer Baptist
Church in Lincolnton. “I have
been married to my lovely
wife,Marie,for 46years,” says
Perriman, “sharing our lives,
love and wisdom with three
daughters, two sons-in-law
and three grandchildren.”
