The Madison Artists Guild Gallery hosts a First Friday Cook-
in to celebrate the season of camping and glamping as we
gather around our faux campfire from 6 to 8 p.m. Come
and enjoy the seasonal change of color in our trees as well
as our art. We'll have camping inspired hors d'oeuvres,

Monday, Nov. 4
The town of Bostwick will host its annual Cotton Gin Festival.
The event kicks off with a 5K Gin Run. The parade will take
place at 11 a.m. Wander through rows of arts and crafts
vendors, enjoy festival food fare and tour the cotton gin.
Parking is $5.
Thursday, Nov. 9
The Madison-Morgan Boys and Girls Club host its sixth an
nual Dancing with the Madison Stars. Come out and watch
locals perform before a comical cast of judges to win their
votes and yours. The event is one of the major fundraising
events for the Madison-Morgan Boys and Girls club. The
show will take place in the hall at the Madison-Morgan
Cultural Center at 7 p.m. Tickets are $65. For more infor

Saturday, Nov 18
Come and learn how to make Hypertufa planters from the
expert, Jim Rowland, at the MAGallery on Nov. 18 from
10 a.m. until noon. Rowland will demonstrate the process
first, then guide the students casting their own planters.
Hypertufa is a lighter-weight concrete cement, peat moss
and perlite mixture. You'll love the rustic, aged planters
that you'll make in this workshop. Wear clothes you don't
mind getting messy in. This class is suitable for adults and
children 12 or older. The class size is limited so be sure
to sign up at MAGallery. The cost is $40 per person and

The Magnificent Madison Show will be held at the Madison
Artists Guild Gallery, consisting of works by the artists
of the Madison Artists Guild. The works will be on dis
play Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Kick off the Christmas season at our ornament exchange at
the Madison Artists Guild Gallery on Dec. 1 from 6 to 8
p.m. Bring a hand-made ornament (whether by your hand
or not) to exchange for another hand-made ornament. It's

Saturday, Dec 9
The Madison Morgan Cultural Center Hall on Foster Street
is hosting the annual Gingerbread Workshop presented by
the Madison Artists Guild on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 1 to
2:30 p.m.. Returning again this year is the contest for 11 —
14 year olds for the best Gingerbread House. The winner
takes home $50. Tickets purchased in advance are $15 per
house for Guild members and $17 per house for non-Guild
members. Tickets purchased at the door are $20. For more

The 36th annual Madison Christmas Rush Classic sponsored
by the Rotary Club of Morgan County will be held Saturday,
Dec. 9., including a 5K, 8K and one-mile fun run. Register

Nathanael Greene Academy will be hold its $10,000 cash
raffle on Oct. 27 during the football game against John
Hancock Academy at Rhodes Field in Siloam at 7:30 p.m.
First ticket drawn wins $500. Last ticket drawn wins
$10,000. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased at
the game.
Tuesday, Oct. 31
Downtown merchants, many in costumes, will be out to offer
trick-or-treating to children 12 and under. Children must
be escorted by an adult and should begin their visit at
the Greene County Courthouse where they will receive an
official trick-or-treating bag and a snack. The event takes

Greensboro Writers' Guild presents short works read by
15 Lake Country writers, including several award winning

Philip Juras, a Georgia artist, will discuss his long-term
exploration of grasslands from the Southeastern Unit
ed States to the high elevation paramo of the Andes
when the Oconee Rivers Audubon Society holds its next

The Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation's (OCAF) annual Holi
day Market will open Dec. 1, offering gift-buyers an oppor
tunity to select unique art and crafts objects from 70 of the
region's most gifted artists. The market will include pottery,
paintings, fiber art, stained and fused glass, jewelry, sculp
ture, photography, woodwork and more. The Market is open
Friday, Dec. 1, 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday,
Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission for all three days
is $3 for adults. Children under 16 get in free. There will be
plenty of free parking. The Artists' Shoppe will remain open
