Story and Photos by Leila Scoggins leila@lakeoconeenews.us The town of Bostwick celebrated its rich agricultural history last weekend at the annual Cotton Gin Festival. Visitors from near and far flocked to the town on Nov. 4 for the daylong event. Each year, the town’s cotton gin opens to tourists, giving them a front row seat to how cotton goes from the field into bails. Beyond exploringthegin,festivalgoers weaved their way through arts and craft vendors situated in a pecan grove. The annual antique tractor parade was led by the 2017 Bostwick Cotton Gin Festival Cotton King Earl Nunn and followed by numerous tractors, vehicles and civic groups. The festival had something for people of every age providing kids with bounce houses and games, as well as musical performances and a wide variety of fare at vari ous food trucks and vendors. For the second year, cotton enthusiasts were able to pick cotton from a field right in town and take photographs with the crop. Proceeds from the event wentto keepingup the historic Susie Agnes Hotel and other needed city improvements.
