Main Street Furniture has served customers throughout Lake Country and beyond for the past 18 years. A year after opening the store David, and wife Susan solicited the help of their son Travis transforming the business into a true family affair. The Sims family, who have over 80 years of service and experience in the furniture industry, work tirelessly to be Lake Country’s "‘home town furniture store with small town friendly service.” Main Street Furniture is located in “The Big Store” at 105 S. Main Street in Greensboro. “It’s been a great place to have a business,” said store manager Travis Sims. “We’ve been able to maintain our business, it’s great to be a part of the downtown area and just the excitement that goes on- it’s fun to be down here.” In the beginning, Main Street carried budget priced furniture and mattresses. Today, the store sells nationally-known manufactures of medium and high-end home furnishings. Twice a year Travis travels to High Point, North Carolina to the furniture market, an international furniture show, and select the items that the store will supply. Main Street Furniture proudly carries Lee Industries upholstery line as well as other popular brands including: Crescent Fine Furniture, Universal, Riverside, Comfort Designs and more. One of the ways that the family has been able to use their expertise is in selecting pieces of furniture that will best accommodate the needs and style of Lake Oconee residents as well as their out of state customers. “I think what is unique about our situation is if you own a store in other parts of this state the majority of your customers are from Georgia, they grew up in Georgia and live in a relatively close distance to that store,” said Sims. “Here we get people gystnorizetll . v-» EJealeE 'iL'I.SAK J i KGUERJNI browning OLD HUDSON PLANTATION ^ luVlsonPlantationTeom^JSh) Skeet Lane^Sparta, (A jjvww.i LEE Industries Rachael Ray Collection Skeet and Trap Venues Sporting Clays Pro Shop 5 Stand ‘Thursdays: Eat & Shoot 105 South Main Street., Greensboro 706-453-4622 • mainstreetfurniture.com • Bernhardt • Flexsteel • Universal • Comfort Design • Cresent • Sealy Bedding LAKE OCONEE'S HOMETOWN FURNITURE STORE! Travis said that they will not only set up the new furnishings but also haul away any old pieces, taking them to the local Habitat for Humanity branch and sending the donation receipt to the customer. Beyond selling furniture, Main Street also offers a full selection of Sealy mattresses as well as a lamp shade shop. Travis said the idea to stock the store with thousands oflarnp shades came from his father, who in one of his last jobs worked for a lamp manufacture. “He’s always had a soft spot for lamps,” he adds. The lamp shade shop often attracts customers to the store leading them to explore the rest of the space. “If we can’t find a shade for you, you probably aren’t going to find one,” said Sims. Another home town aspect of Main Street Furniture is their hours. The store is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on Sundays. However, Travis encourages customers to call ahead on Saturdays when the family’s beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs is playing between the hedges. When asked what sets Main Street Furniture apart from others in the area Travis’ answer was simple, “We’re a big city store in a small town, we have the quality goods you will find in Atlanta but we have that hometown feel, small town customer service. We will make sure you get what you are looking for and that it is what it should be when it gets to you. We really take care of our customers.” ADVANCE REHABILITATION ^HYS CAL THERAPY SERVING GREENE & TAKIYA APRIL SURROUNDING COUNTIES GRANT POWELL FOR OVER 10 YEARS!
