Michael Stone michael@lakeoconeenews.us Long gone are the days when a car thief could hot wire a ’57 Chevy andbelonggonebythetime law enforcement knew anything about it. Last week, the Greensboro Police Department and Greene County Sheriff’s Office with some assistance from a cell phone app, tracked down a pair of juveniles who had taken a 2013 Honda Accord for a joy ride. Officers with the Greene County Police Department were dis patched to 203 South Walnut Street in reference to a theft on Saturday, Nov. 18. They were able to use an app on the phone to determine its location, possibly in the area of Credille Pond Road. Deputy Eli Franks with the Greene County Sheriffs Office responded to the area and sawthe gray Honda back out of a driveway off ofCredille Pond Road and pro ceed towards Syrup Mill Crossing. Deputy Franks attempted to pull the Honda over, but the driver accelerated and would not stop. Franks continued his pursuit onto Siloam Veazey Road where the vehicle lost control near Billy Merritt Road. According to press release from the Greene County Sheriff s Office, a small fire started in the engine area as a result of the accident. However, Deputy Franks was able to break a window and get the occupants out of the car. Both juveniles were then hand cuffed and moved to a safe location. Both ofthe juveniles were taken to St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro for minor injuries and later released. According to the Greensboro Police Department, both of the juveniles will be charged through the Department of Juvenile Justice. 1 iUR NON-COMMISSION SlLESREOPLE Have thegbnfidence that4the sales 1 does not benefit directly from maKihg.pmfit^from the/ransaction.ifhey benefit frjrnT understanding ~ TpjgSs and actually working to get you the besTpossible deal. 0UI| 24-HOUR MONEY BACK PROMISE If within 24 hours of purchasing your new vehicle you are not completely satisfied, bring it back! / m EJirl Jeep Renegade Special Ram Truck Special POWER OAYS 110250 i’s November , 11/03 Gatewood Schools football game.
