Writers guild hosts fall reading program
MembersoftheGreensboro
Writers’ Guild recently held
their annual readingprogram
at Reynold Landing’s Lake
Room. This year’s theme,
“Flights of Imagination,”
brought forth tales from 11 of
the guild’s writers. Members
and their guests were treated
to light refreshments prior to
the readings.
Linda Wagner opened the
afternoon happening by wel
coming those in attendance
before introducing the writ
er’s and their works.
Linda Wagner’s, “Life
Preservers,” brought forth
memories of family ances
tors known and unknown,
while George Heiring’s “Your
Mother Has Been Kidnapped
by Naked Savages” revived
a memory of a past visit to
Africa. Barb Griffiths “Close
Encounter” with a sea lion in
Peru left her with a physical
as well as a mental memory.
Boots Coffed warned us
about food poisoning with
‘You Can’t Be Too Careful, as
didDavisTempleinhis,“Hunt
Georgia Wild Mushrooms at
Your Own Risk!” And Bill
Boughner voiced one of life’s
frustrations in, “The Medical
BillsMerry-Go-Round.”Judy
Stultz told of her interesting
“Brief Encounters” while out
and about.
Pete Muzyka reiterated a
tale of his brush with fame in
“I’m Ready for My Close-up,
Mr. DeMille.”
The GWG poets offered
their latest works: “Artificial
Candle” from Liz Howells,
“Beyond the Rainbow” from
Jeanne Herrero and “A
Writer’s Confession” from
Sharolyn Fanton.
The program was dedi
cated to founding member
and fellow writer, Kathy
Wright, who was unable to
attend this year’s event.

St. Mary’s Good Samaritan
Hospital invites everyone
to the third annual lighting
of the Love Lights Tree on
Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 5:30
p.m. in the hospital atrium at
5401 Lake Oconee Parkway,
Greensboro.
The hospital atrium will be
energized by students from
Lake Oconee Academy who
will present a festive holi
day program for attendees,
along with the Arts Barn

Heart & Soul Gala tickets now available
Tickets for the Heart and
Soul Gala benefiting St.
Mary’s Good Samaritan
Hospital are now available for
purchase. The Heart & Soul
Gala is a black-tie event to be
held on Feb. 10,2018, at The
Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake
Oconee and includes dinner,
dancing and live and silent
auctions. The past two Galas
were both sold-out events, so
the organizing committee is
encouragingthose interested
in attending this event to
purchase tickets early.

hospital and is a vital source
of funding for St. Mary’s
