Rotary Club honors students of the month for November The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is pleased to announce the following Students-of-the- Month for November 2017: Cole Williams (Gatewood Schools), Mollie Joy Farmer (Greene County High School), Abigail Wendt (Lake Oconee Academy), Jake Echols (Nathanael Greene Academy) and Alexis Minchey (Putnam County High School). Cole Williams is a senior at Gatewood Schools and is currently ranked as the class Salutatorian. He is the son of Chad and Brittney Williams. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has received highest honors throughout high school. He is senior class vice-president, captain of the soccer team and a junior marshal. In addition, he is a member of the Anchor Club and Interact Club. He is also on the basketball and soccer teams. He has even traveled to England and Spain to play in soccer tournaments. Williams plans to attend Mercer University on a soccer scholarship and major in political science before trans ferring to the University of Georgia Law School. He chose Dr. Jo Lynn Cashwell as his Teacher of the Month. Mollie Joy Farmer attends Greene County High School and is the daughter of Brenda Pete. She is enrolled in both honors and AP classes. She attended Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp during the summer of 2015. Since then, she has taken leadership roles in the Interact Club and Tiger Ambassador Program, which promotes voter regis tration. She is in on the soft- ball and basketball teams. Farmer enjoys drawing and painting and participating in the school drama club. She also works part time with a landscaping company, which gives her the opportunity to indulge in auto repair work she has always enjoyed. She is involved in canned food drives, World Wide Hydrocephalus Foundation, local blood drives and the shoebox project. After grad uation, Farmer plans to join the Army and participate in the Reserves. This will give her the opportunity to continue her education at Georgia Military College to begin studying studio art. She chose John Buckley as her Teacher of the Month. Abigail (Abbey) Wendt is the daughter of Frederick and Jamie Wendt. She is a high honor roll student at Lake Oconee Academy and is the top academic per forming student in her class from 2014-2016. She was the Greene County Student of the Year, Georgia Merit Award winner, AP scholar and Art and Drama Student of the Year. She has received the CEO Award.
