Georgia’s Lake Country has a new flying club Local resident Terry Winn had a vision about becoming an active private pilot again after many years away from the “left seat.” In February ofthisyear he turned that vision into reality by working with another local resident, Mark Hall, to develop and record the articles of organization and by laws to form the Lake Country Flying Club. Since February the club has kept busy by adding five new members (including two student pilots). The members worked closely together to select and purchase the club’s first plane, a well-equipped Piper Archer. The plane has a hangar to call home at the Greene County Regional Airport. The club also has two certified flight instructors (CFI’s) available. The club is a great resource for private pilots, individuals wanting to fulfill the dream of learning to fly or a rusty pilot wanting to get back up to speed. “I think this is a great locale for a flying club because ofthe proximity of so many fun places to travel to,” Winn said. “Places like Ashville, Hilton Head and Charleston are only one or two hours by plane.” The club plans to sponsor fly-in breakfasts and fly to other area fly- ins. The club has afewmemberships available.
