The new brewpub ordinance became necessary when the local eatery began considering upgrades as it began planning a move to a new location on W. Washington Street, site of the former Madison Hardware Store. The move is scheduled for next spring. The Madison City Council recentlyapprovedaDual-Locate Site ordinance that clears the way for the beverage retailer’s return to Madison. The new Starbucks is settobe constructed on the 1.5 acre site currently occupied by Steak ‘n Shake at 2001 Eatonton Road. The ordinance creates an avenue for the location of two hotels or restaurants in the C-4 land use district only.
