more people finding out about The Frisk Pub, his dream is
becoming a reality.

food, a cold drink and a

a new hotspot in Eatonton.
The Frisk Pub, located
at 117 North Jefferson Ave.
in Eatonton, is a restaurant
and bar that offers a qual
ity place for Eatonton and
Putnam County residents to
enjoy food and drinks while
watching games, hearing
live entertainment and
spending time with friends
and family.
“The last thing on my
bucket listto do was to own a
bar,” Frisk owner Ben Payne
said. “We wanted to have
a place for the community
where people can come have
a beer after work, watch a
football game, see some live
local entertainment andjust
be a place of activity for the
town.”
A former police officer,
Payne had discussed the
idea of starting a bar for a
number of years with his
late brother, who was also
a retired law enforcement
officer. The name “Frisk”
was chosen to indicate that
the bar was themed after
law enforcement, referring
to the act of patting down
criminals while searching
for illegal objects on a sus
pect’s person.
After a few months of
preparation once the build
ing was acquired, the bar
was opened, and the initial
response was positive.
“We’ve had nothing but
support from the town,”
Payne said. “People are very
interested.”
According to Payne,
among those who have
shown positivity towards
The Frisk Pub were sev
eral courthouse employees,
as well as the mayor and
several city councilmen.
Payne expressed that he
wanted customers to notjust
experience the coldest beer
in town, but rather a more
complete package, includ
ing good service, quality
product, quality entertain
ment and an overall great
experience.
‘We want to have the best
burger in town,” Payne said.
“We want to make sure that
this is a place that people
want to come back to, and
we want to have the right
atmosphere.”
Payne said the pub is plan
ning to have activities at the
bar such as trivia, karaoke
and a writer’s table on a reg
ular basis and have already
had several local entertain
ers play at the bar, including
Ronnie Pittman, who is the
owner of The Music Store
that also recently opened in
downtown Eatonton. The
idea of Frisk Pub was to
model themselves after The
Bluebird Cafe in Nashville,
Payne said, one of the
most famous and critically
acclaimed venues in the
country.
First opened in 1982, The
Bluebird Cafe is known for
having a number of musi
cians, whether they are
established, well-known
artists or just local musi
cians, perform intimate
acoustic sets. Payne wanted
to approach live entertain
ment at The Frisk Pub in
a similar manner, with
a desire to keep patrons
guessing about who could
potentiallywalkthroughthe
front door one day.
Before obtaining their
liquor license, the pub was
usually only open from 11
a.m. to 2 p.m. Nowthatthey
are licensed, Frisk will be
open at their normal time
and then open back up at 6
p.m. until 11 p.m.
Given Payne’s background
as a retired officer and the
desire to give The Frisk
Pub a law enforcement
theme, the pub offers all law
enforcement officers, first
responders, firemen and
other emergency personnel
a 10 percent discount.
The Frisk Pub is an excel
lent place to spend time
with family and friends in
a good atmosphere and is
ready to offer its Eatonton
patrons good food, cold
drinks, entertainment and
a good time.
“We love Eatonton,” Payne
said, “and we hope they love
