Speaking of our website,
have you noticed The Plaza
Arts Center’s new look?
Thanks to a partnership
with Lynne Peer branding
and our former marketing
chair, David Bradley, we
have a new logo. It’s clean,
fresh and highlights one of
most iconic features of The
Plaza, the fountain. It was
also time to change our
official name to The Plaza
Arts Center, Inc., rather than
the Eatonton-Putnam Arts
Foundation.
I think you’ll agree it’s
easier to identify and rec
ognize. Thanks to an assist
from our partnership with
GCSU CODEC program,
we just launched a new
website. You can now visit
us at www.plazacenter.org.
Our communications and
events coordinator, Melanie
Schneider, manages all the
content creation and design
for our website, emails,
Facebook and all our adver
tising needs. With the new
website, you’ll be sure to find
what you’re looking for with
simplified navigation, clean
layout and colorful design.
The website highlights our
guiding words here at the
Plaza: Create, Cultivate and
Celebrate. Each one of these
words references one of our
goals with a corresponding
color. Create = Teal. Here
you’ll find information about
all of our stage events and
performances. Cultivate
= Burgundy. Click here
to discover all the classes
and educational programs
we offer the community.
Celebrate = Gold. Be it a
wedding, business meeting,
graduation or other event,
we all have reason to cel
ebrate. Our remarkable
venue is a unique space to
host those special events.
We have another color,
Purple, which represents
“Donate.” This section pro
vides details on ways to offer
your time as a volunteer,
sponsor one of our events
or become a Plaza Partner,
all of which help us with
our mission of “Connecting
the Community through the
Arts.” We strive to promote
interest and participation in
the visual and performing
arts by providing programs
and facilities for community
and regional involvement,
education and enjoyment.
It takes so many people to
make things happen here.
We thank you from the
bottom of our hearts. We
could not serve so many
without your continued
support.
If you’re still looking for a
last minute gift or stocking
staffer, we’ve got just the
ticket. Or give a whole year
of music, drama, dance
and concerts with the gift
of a 2018 Plaza Partner
membership.
Cheers to more Magic
Moments in 2018. See you
at The Plaza.

Personalize your Social Security payout strategy
Only you can decide if
claiming Social Security at
age 62 or waiting to claim
later makes more sense.
Lifestyle and philanthropic
intentions, marital and
employment status and
gender are all factors.
When do you claim?
If you’re in a position to
think through your Social
Security claiming schedule,
do it. It could mean thou
sands or tens of thousands
to your annual retirement
income.
Here’s your choice: You
can start receiving monthly
payouts atthe qualifying age
of 62 like many people. Or
you can hold out for a bigger
payout down the road.
It’s your call - and it could
be agame-changer in retire
ment. Though an immediate
need for funds will usually
trump other considerations,
delaying Social Security for
just eight years - until age
70 - could mean up to 30%
more from Uncle Sam every
Richard

month.
Some key considerations
will likely factor into your
claiming strategy:
What's age got
to do with it?
If 60 is the new 40, then
80 is the new 60. Longer
life spans are only part of
the story, though. The rest
of it plays out every day in
21st century lifestyle and
retirement expectations,
not to mention philan
thropic intentions or plans
to help out the family 01-
grandchildren.
Along with modern reali
ties, retirees’multiple income
sources and investments are
changing traditional Social
Security claiming patterns.
It may make more sense to
begin drawing funds from
other income sources while
delaying Social Security. Or
you may even decide to put
offretirement for a fewyear s
to make it possible.
What's your
claiming combo?
If you’re married or in
a relationship, you’ll want
to look at where you both
stand in relation to retire
ment. We’re talking “still
working” versus “already
retired.” Depending on your
personal circumstances, a
number of scenarios could
apply, including:
• Both spouses or partners
wait until 70 to claim
• One spouse or partner
claims early while the
other waits
• A lower-earning spouse

• Your claiming strategy
may be as unique as your
financial circumstances
and retirement outlook.
What’s your gender?
Longer life spans apply
here, too. Women, on aver
age, outlive men. Take
gender into account in your
claiming strategy. Look at
your gene pool, retirement
expectations, and whether
or not you’ll receive depen
dent Social Security benefits
should you lose your spouse.
