Center is hosting the world-re
nowned Morehouse Glee Club on
Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. for spirituals and
a capella classics. This concert is a
collaboration between the cultural
center and the Morgan County
African-American Museum.
Tickets are $40 and are available
online at www.mcaam.org or call
the Center at 706-342-4743 for
more information.
Kemper Harreld, who officially
foundedtheMorehouse College Glee
Club in 1911, was responsible for
beginning the club’s strong legacy of
excellence that has sincebeen passed
down to all members.
The Morehouse College Glee Club
celebrated 105 years of its musical
legacy throughout the 2015-2016
calendar year. Since its origin,
excellence through brotherhood,
dedication and commitment and
unselfish labors of love have con
tinued in musical performance and
in whatever the organization does.
The current members come from
all over the United States and even
from other countries around the
world. Club members all have dif
ferent interests, which adds to the
diversity of the organization. While
some are music majors, members
come from all academic divisions
at the college. Even though some
members take Glee Club as a course
for credit, all members still sing as a
labor of love and enjoybeing ambas
sadors for Morehouse College.

The Magnificent Madison Show will be held at the Madison
Artists Guild Gallery, consisting of works by the artists of
the Madison Artists Guild. The works will be on dis
play Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Start the year off right by enjoying two pet-friendly, rang
er-led hikes at Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge.
The first hike begins at 10 a.m, and the second at 2 p.m.
Hikers will explore the Beaver Dam Trail as well as the
Brantley Trail. The combined trails will cover 2.5 miles and
will have a varied terrain, including hills and stairs. Meet at
the Trading Post. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes. The

Acoustic evening with Phillip 5r Nathan at Buffington's.
The duo will be at Buffington's to help close out the New
Year's Eve weekend for 2017 as dinner entertainment.

New Year's Eve at Metropolis. Start 2018 on the right foot
by celebrating at Metropolis Cafe. Ron Harris and his band
will be performing all night, and there will be champagne.
Food and drink specials to be determined.

The Madison Artists Guild Gallery will celebrate its first
exhibit of 2018 with new works by well-knowN folk artist
Peter Loose. Start your new year off with Loose's funky
folk art while you enjoy artist-made treats. The gallery is

The beautiful 6,000-square-foot Ice Rink in The Forest at
The Ritz-Carlton is open. Invigorating exercise and fun
are topped off with hot cocoa or hot apple cider. Skating
will be available daily through Jan. 8, from 10 a.m. until 2
p.m. and 4 until 8 p.m. The cost for non-hotel guests is
$30 per adult, per session, and $20 per child, per session.
Skating is complimentary for all registered hotel guests.

come to town for a weekend of learning, service and fun.

The Georgia College Office of Inclusive Excellence presents
the second Annual MLK Community Breakfast. In honor
of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Georgia College
will recognize student work from Baldwin County Schools,
John Milledge Academy, Sinclair Christian Academy, EBLA,
Georgia College Early College and Georgia Military College.
Select students will present their work at the breakfast.
Tickets for the breakfast are $15.

The University of North Georgia will host an artist's talk
and reception with Laura Noel on Feb. 14 in the Oconee
Art Gallery. According to visitoconee.com, "Noel's work
explores the shifting place books and words hold in Amer
ican culture as society becomes increasingly digital. This
exhibition combines photographs from her "Withdrawn"
series and newer work using books as sculpture and small
