In the wake of several
new businesses opening up
around Eatonton, there is
now one dedicated to Lake
Country musicians.
Simply called “The Music
Store,” the new store, located
next to the old Pex Theatre on
South JeffersonAvenue, is the
latest location for Musicman
Guitar Company, founded by
Nashville recording artist
Ronnie Pittman.
An established musi
cian who frequently plays a
number of gigs around Lake
Country, Pittman opened his
first music store in Georgiain
Milledgeville in 2010 whenhe
moved there from Nashville
with his family. Although
the Eatonton store has only
been open for just a few
weeks, the people ofEatonton
have already noticed it, and
many are beginning to take
interest.
‘We’ve gotten a lot of good
reception so far,” Eatonton
Music Store employee Bill
Turkowsky said. “We’ve met
a lot of nice people. There
have been people just walk
ing down the street who say
that they’re glad that we’re
here. We really feel safe and
secure here. “
A large number of musical
instruments are available for
purchase at the new store,
including both electric and
acoustic guitars, basses,
select drum kit pieces and
amplifiers. The store also

has PA systems and lighting
available, so local musicians
will be able to enhance their
stage presence as well as
purchase new instruments
and equipment.
The available instruments
and equipment ranges from
beginners’ gear for new musi
cians to quality product for
seasoned veteran musicians.
Repairs and maintenance
are other services offered,
and the store is also in the
process of setting up lessons
for anybody interested in
undergoing a musical j our ney
and coveringthe instruments
they traditionally sell as well
as trying to establish lessons
for less common instruments,
such as the fiddle.
The store wasted no time
trying to reach out to the
community and create spe
cial offers for those who
deserve it.
“We do alot with churches,”
Turkowsky said. “We give a
10 percent discount to law
enforcement, military and
churches.”
The Eatonton Music Store
will eventually prove to
be a boon to the area, as
Putnam County has several
key locations that embrace
live entertainment and local
musicians. Just a short walk
down the street from the
store is The Frisk Pub, a new
restaurant and bar that will
heavily feature live entertain
ment; Pittman himself has
played at Frisk a number of
times, he said.
The Eatonton Music Store
has only been open for a few
weeks, but it has already
become a commodity to the
area and continues to create
great new opportunities
for the music scene in Lake
Country to thrive.
