our every day life and literature,
should receive equally as much and
more attention too than those which
are taught as a means for mental
development and as a polish to those
who are supposed to be already well
grounded in the principles of
English.
Nothing reflects so much oil a col
lege graduate as his use of English,
for there is no other point so salient,
or which is more open to attack.
And secondly, it reflects on his
Alma Mater. We have heard ad
verse comments passed on the use
made of English by the students
here, and while it may to a great
extent he their own fault, yet a
part of it may he attributed to the
small amount of study devoted to
English in this institution.
