The organization was called the
Southern Iliter-collegiate Athletic.

H. Ilerty, Secretary and Treasurer.
An executive committee, was elected,
consisting of the three above otti-
eers. The constitution will be sub
mitted to the different Southern col
leges for their approval, and as soon
as that is done, a schedule of games
will be HxeJ upon for the coining
fool ball and base ball season.
There is no doubt that the result of
ibis convention will mean much for
the improvement of Athletics in
Southern colleges.
Death of Prof. Thomas.
This morning at half past five
o’clock, Prof. George Dudley Thom
as died at Richmond, Va., whither
he had gone for the benefit of his
health. He was a native of Athens,
tile soil of the late Stevens Thomas,
and a man of unblemished eharae
ter. He graduated from the Uni
versity of Georgia, in the Class of
’76, and from the Law Glass of'78.
In 1884 he was elected to the pro
fessorship of law and remained at
his post in that department until
failing health compelled him to re
sign in 1893. He was a loyal alum
lius of the University, and in the
