BLACK Page Three Colonial Offers Stock Company Again Next Week "Over the Hill to the Poorhouse, ’ will be the attraction offered by the Montgomery players at the Colonial for three days beginning Monday. This is the commencement of the third week of the stock company’s indefinite stay here. As an added attraction there is j excellent vaudeville put on between acts of the play, keeping up the en-1 tertainment during the entire even-! ing. The Montgomery players have been j well-received by the students and the j Athens citizens, having practically a full house every night. This is due to the excellence of the cast, the choice of good laughable plays, and the small admission price. Because of the crowds attending the show night after night reserve seat tickets have been put on sale at Hammett’s Pharmacy on Clayton street. Bullpups Defeat Winder Cagemen In Flashy Game The Georgia Bullpups playing a brilliant brand of basketball defeated the Winder quintet 38 to 21 at Woodruff hall. The high school five put up a fierce game in the initial half and the score at the end of the period was 26 to 19 In favor of Georgia. Sanford, who led the individual scoring, and McGaughey at the other forward, played nicely. Reeder not only played effectively on the de fense but was responsible for eight points. Bohemians Will Sponsor Exhibit A spring art exhibit will be spon sored by the University of Georgia Bohemian club some time in the near future. Definite plans have not yet been made but those desiring to contribute work to the exhibit are asked to get in touch with Miss Annie Carlton, advisor of tbe Bohemian club, at Memorial hall library. Water Color Art To be Exhibited At Alumni Hall An exhibit of approximately 4 2 water color paintings will be on dis-, play at Memorial hall beginning Wednesday, February 2, and con tinuing for a week and perhaps longer. The paintings will be secured from the Washington Water Color society, and the exhibit will be sponsored by the Bohemian club of the Univer sity. All University students and Ath enians who are interested are in vited to visit the exhibit. Nine Students In Infirmary Nine students of the University are ill in the Crawford W. Long Infirmary. Four of these students have measles and the other five are the victims of colds and in fluenza. The four students who have measles are .1. A. Gerrard, Washing- Virginia McGowan, Stilesboro; and W. B. Farmer, Martin. The students who have colds or influenza are K. B. Baldwin, Dub lin; B. B. Reed, Lincolnton; C. E. Kenner, Dalton; L. V. Cawley, Au gusta; and J. N. Franklin, Colum bus. Approximately 10,000 radio fans tune in on the University program according to a test made by radio officials of WSB, the Atlanta Journal, which broadcasts this program. Mr. Palmisano was taken in as an honorary member, while the Uni versity dean of men was taken in to represent the faculty, and R. W. White, Jr., to represent the student body. Bar- row spoke to the Freshmen Y club in Candler hall Tuesday night. The subject of his talk was "Jacob the 'Runaway.” Dr. Barrow was well received by the first-year "Y” men. according to all those hearing him. The cluli met in the reception lobby of Candler hall whore “Uncle Dave” spoke to them. February 6 Set For Beginning of Spring Practice February 6 is tbe date set by Coach Harry Mehre for the begin ning of spring football practice and once more "the thud of toe against pigskin" may tie heard. The work outs will continue daily for six weeks. Quite a few faces will tie missing from the Georgia encampment, among them. Shiver, Nash. Smith, Morris, McTigue, Estes, Broadnax, Greenfield, and Stewart. These nine men have played their last game in Bulldog uniform, tile allotted three years having expired last fall. Couch Mehre is looking for a large number of candidates to report, in cluding all the sophomores and juniors of last year as well as quite a few freshmen from the younger class. Coach Crowley will arrive in time to take charge of the backfleld work. This will mark the introduction of Harry Mehre as head coach of the Georgia Bulldog, Coach Woodruff having resigned last fall. For some time, Mr. Mehre has been busy with plans for the spring practice and hopes to make it more successful than ever before. Compass club, according to its pres ident, is to create Interest in the history of symbolism jurisprudence and in the philosophy of freemasonry and to promote their study among the members of the fraternity. Grecian Student To Tell Pioneer Club of Balkans With “Foreign Relations in the Balkans" as his subject, George C. Farantos, of Greece, a student in the Lumpkin Law school, will be the principal speaker on the program of the next Pioneer club meeting, which is to lie Held at Peabody hall, Thurs day, February 2, at seven p. m. One of the chief considerations of tile meeting is some urgent business which is to be taken up at that time. Officers of the club are: Maybelle Stith, Vida 1 iu, president; Catherine Moore.
