The monkey drill team of the Uni versity R. O. T. C. military unit staged an entertaining performance l>efore students of the University and citizens of Athens Monday afternoon on Herty field. The stunts fnrnlehed by the team lasted nearly one-half hour and were appreciated hy a large audience. Following this performance, 20 men that composed the team, to gether with three officers and six enlisted men from the R. O. T. C. unit, left Wednceday morning for Augusta, where they participated In the annual Augusta horse show held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week. At the horse show the University team was entered in three classes •which consisted of Jumping, three galled and polo classes, which neces sitated the members to participate In 16 events. The entire monkey drill team guve exhibits each of the three days. Lieutenant L. O. Smith, coach of the team; M. M. Stephenson, man ager; Major F. W. Whitney; Captain I. C. Nicholas; Sergeant Malloy, and five enlisted men accompanied the team to Augusta. Twenty-two horses were sent to the show Tuesday In order to be rested before the open ing day. Miss Katherine Kingman, Fort Bennlng, also accompanied the team. She is a member of the horse show team, which Is composed of three members, Miss Kingman. J. J. Har ris, Athens, and one other. Being led seven points at the end of the third quarter, the Sigma Chi basketball team came from behind Thursday night to snatch the game from the Chi Phi quintet 21 to 20 in the first of a two-out-of-three se ries for the fraternity championship of the University. Kach team had previously won the championship of Its league. The Sigma Chls clinched their right to meet the Chi Phis by defeating a Phi Delta Theta five 30 to 21 and the Phi Epsilon Pis, their former con querors, 28 to 18, breaking the triple tie In their league.
