Physical Education Building Fully Equipped For Co-Ed Instruction New Equipment Installed For Grady Students With the opening of the new ses sion of the University of Georgia, students registering in the Henry W. Grady School of Journalism found the department equipped with new editorial and printing labora tories which will be used in connec tion with the instruction work for the first time this year. Lbcated on the ground floor of the new Commerce-Journalism build ing the editorial laboratory houses a large universal copy desk and ten reporters’ desks and typewriters. Adjoining the editorial room is the printing laboratory in which are type cabinets, imposing tables, proof press, and other equipment with which newspaper people think jour nalism students ought to be famil iar. The Grady School this fall begins a morgue in which will be filed in formation about university teachers and students and certain Georgia and out-of-the-state papers. Two large rooms on the ground floor near the editorial and printing labora tories have been reserved for the morgue. An office for the editor and the business manager of the Red and Illack, campus newspaper, adjoins the editorial laboratory. The labora tory will be used as an editorial room for the Red and Black when not being used for instruction pur poses. (Ily Martha Worth Rogers) One main gymnasium large enough for two basketball practice courts to be in use at the same time, a dancing studio, two smaller gymnas iums for correcting instruction, and a fully equipped swimming pool are a few of the features of the new Physical Education building which is being constructed on the campus of the Georgia State College of Agri culture. Mrs. Ed Soule is the head of the department of physical education of the University of Georgia. Her as sistants are: Miss Gertrude Bartlett, University of Wisconsin, in charge of the corrective department; and Miss Olga Lewis, Columbia University, in charge of dancing and swimming The swimming pool is to be one of the most attractive features of the new gymnasium. It will be 60 by 30 feet, and is to have all mod ern sanitary apparatus. In connec tion with the swimming pool, there will be special showers, dressing rooms, and apparatus for hair dry ing. The entire building is to be equipped with showers, locker- rooms, and dressing rooms, and the two smaller gymnasiums for correc tive exercises will have special ex amination rooms On the second floor, there will be two studios For the present, these rooms will be used by the art de partment Other features of the new build- in are: a club room for the Women's Athletic association; physical educa tion class-rooms for major classes; two large and well-equipped offices for members of the staff; and a new and enlarged set of apparatus for the gymnasium. Two new hockey fields, and six tennis courts are being prepared near the new building which is to be com pleted at an early date at a cost of almost $100,000. BAPTIST STUDENT UNION OFFERS STUDY COURSES The Baptist Student Union will give a series of study courses at the First Baptist church October 3-5 at seven o'clock. Friday evening, October fifth, at eight o’clock a banquet will be given. Dr. J. P. Boone will speak.
