High 63 | Imw 35 ONLINE: www.redandblack.coni Accident ends with second DUI, one in ICU By JESSICA LEVINE jlevine@randb.com An intoxicated female University student crashed her 1999 Ford NJustang into the underpass of the OA 10 loop on College Station Road, sending her and two passengers to the emergency room, police said. Sarah Catherine Madsen, a 20- year-old accounting mgjor from Atlanta, was travelling east on College Station Road at 2:57 am. Friday when she ran off the road and struck a bridge pier on the passenger side door, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police report. 9 I _ J MADSEN Madsen has been on probation for a previous DUI and other violations She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then arrested Police are charging Madsen with driving under the influence, serious injury by vehicle, underage con sumption while driving and failure to maintain lane, according to the police report. Her passengers, Michael Wilson, 21. and Justin Goodwin, 19, both from Winder, were transported to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment. Goodwin was treated for minor injuries in the emergency room and released early Friday. Wilson remained in the Intensive Care Unit Sunday afternoon, according to hos pital officials. Madsen has been arrested several times in the last year by ACC and University Police. Most recently, she was arrested on Jan. 28 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Madsen was arrested on April 30, 2006 and Sept. 16, 2006, charged on both occasions with underage pos session. Efforts to reach Madsen Sunday > See DUI. The Gym Dogs (10-1-1) fell off mats, apparatuses and the momen tum train as UCLA (9-4) beat Georgia by .15 points.
