The following incidents were taken from Atheiis- Clarke County Police reports and the University Police daily log: Feb. 21 ► A magistrate Judge ruled to dismiss a felony drug charge that was pending against an Alpha Epsilon Pi member. University Police arrested Brandon Adam Grant on Feb. 20 and charged him with a felony count of possession of marijuana with intent to dis tribute and a misdemeanor count of possession of mari juana. He no longer is being charged with intent to dis tribute. March 2 ► University Police set up two vehicle checkpoints and arrested five University stu dents on driving under the influence charges, among other counts. The following students were arrested and charged with driving under the influ ence: Robert Jeremy Coleman, Thomas Bradley Willingham, Jarrad Wyche Rowse, Matthew Lundy Gossett and Gregory James Griffeth. Willingham, Rowse, Gossett and Griffeth also were charged with underage possession. Gossett also was charged with possession of a fraudu lent identification. Griffeth also was charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana and driving on the wrong side of the road. March 3 ► A female University stu dent reported receiving harassing phone calls from someone she knows to University Police at 12:30 a m. ► ACC Police arrested a STRESS: Exercise limits anxiety ► From Page 1 response to turn off is a problem," he said. But Panico said devel oping problem-solving skills and positive-think ing patterns can help inoc ulate students against stress. An officer saw Timothy Hall, 19, staggering down the right lane of Springdale Street at 4:50 a.m. The officer approached Hall and smelled a strong odor of alcohol on him. Hall told the officer he came from the "KA” house and had about 10 drinks. ► A male University stu dent reported a domestic dis pute to University Police Saturday morning at Russell Hall. University Police arrested Bepjamin Neil Murray, Jr. and charged him with simple bat tery, terroristic threats and underage possession. ► A female University stu dent reported her S3OO moun tain bike missing from her residence on King Avenue to ACC Police. Michelle Anderson told police her blue Schwinn mountain bike, with after tant director for fitness and wellness at the Ramsey Center. Bettis recommended students enroll in classes such as yoga, pilates and aerobics at Ramsey. "Our drop-in and insti tutional programs (such as pilates) will go half price after Spring Break," Bettis said Students also can take a variety of yoga classes at the Mind Body Institute for relaxation techniques “Classical yoga was designed for people to suc cessfully adapt to their lives.” Panico said He said it was designed for people to learn how to accomplish the task at hand and then “turn off” the stress response suc cessfully. “It’s really important to learn strategies and tech niques to manage stress at a younger age.” Panico said. While levels of stress may vary, students can take precautionary meas ures to keep stress at bay. March 4 ► University Police arrest ed University student Caroline Anne Covington at 3:04 a.m. and charged her with underage possession and interference with government property. ► University Police arrest ed visitor Jason Michael Vance in the Carlton Street parking deck at 6:59 p.m. and charged him with possession of a weapon on school proper ty. The University offers ways to help students curb financial burdens. “It's important to sit down and develop a budg et,” said Susan Little, director of the Office of Student Financial Aid "Budgeting is one of the first things students need to develop." Little said students need to set "realistic" spending limits, such as how much to spend on groceries, watching movies or shopping. "Students need to begin to put money in an emergency fund,” Little said Anxiety, time manage ment. nutrition and sleep problems are are common stressors for many stu dents. The American Psychological Association suggests solutions for stress, such as analyzing personal schedules, set ting aside “time for your self" and refreshing men tal outlooks.
