Turquoise Jeep Records and Yacht Rock Revue are stop ping by Athens again as Easter Island plays its last show ever. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6 Joe Pug Folk singer-song- writer Joe Pug is mak ing his annual trip to Athens this Thursday with a show at the Melting Point. After quitting his day job as a carpenter, Pug recorded and released his “Nation of Heat” EP before embarking on a nationwide tour. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $5 for UGA students. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7 The Airborne Toxic Event The Airborne Toxic Event is one of the big ¬ ger bands to come through Athens this week. The indie rock band from California has been featured as a VH1 “You Oughta Know” artist and has performed in festivals nationwide. In 2013, it released “Such Hot Blood,” its most emo tive LP yet. The group promises to put on the best show, realizing each one could be its last. The show is at 8 p.m. at The 40 Watt Club. Tickets are $20. Turquoise Jeep Records The rap collective Turquoise Jeep Records is coming to New Earth Music Hall after a scheduling con flict at the 40 Watt. Primarily known for its viral YouTube hit “Lemme Smang It,” the artists at Turquoise Jeep are serious about their work after releasing two albums and work ing on a clothing line and instructional dance DVD. Yip Deceiver will be the opening act. The show is at 8 p.m., and tickets are $15. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8 Easter Island Athens-based dream pop/shoegaze band Easter Island will play its last show at 10 p.m. on Saturday at The Caledonia Lounge. After nearly a four-year run that included an LP and an ER members of the band are calling it quits to pursue other interests. Athens will be losing a band unlike any other in recent memory, and you can see it for $5 (21+) or $7 (18-20). Yacht Rock Revue Yacht Rock Revue is returning to Athens to perform an all-ages show at the Georgia Theatre. The group is a tribute band that aims to per form renditions of ‘70s soft rock. Bands covered include Hall & Oates and Steely Dan. The show is at 10 p.m. and follows the Bulldawg Brawl. A ticket for both events is $25, and a tick et for just Yacht Rock Revue is $15.
