Every Home Visited; More Than 1700 Pieces
Of Literature Distributed At Warner Robins >
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Ev
ery Home visited and more than
1700 pieces of literature distribut
ed was the result of a city wide
canvas made by the parishioners
of Sacred Heart Church here.
This Canvas, Just completed,
was part of a “Campaign for
Converts” conducted under the
direction of the Rev. Felix Don
nelly, pastor at Warner Robins.
The campaign was opened by
a Dialogue Mission conducted by
the Paulist Fathers. The Mission
each night consisted of a brief
doctrinal talk by one of the Fath
ers, and then the other Priest
would begin proposing' questions,
pretending to be a non-catholic.
This afforded an opportunity for
the Catholics to learn the ready
answer for question put to them
by non-catholics; and it also in
structed non-catholics, of whom
more than 50 attended, in some of
the truths of Our Holy Faith.
Subjects treated at the Mission
in General were: Divinity of
Christ, The Bible, The Holy Mass-
which was demonstrated with in-
struction-Confession, The Church,
and Marriage.
The succeeding two week pe
riod was consumed by the canvas
of the 3,000 odd Homes. To all
interested, copies‘of Father Lord’s
pamphlet, “A Letter to Our Non-
Catholic Neighbors” was given
along with a self-addressed card
to the K. of C. Religious Informa
tion Bureau for information con
cerning their Correspondence
Course.
The Campaign came to a close
with an Open Forum at the City
Hall on Monday, Wednesday and
Friday of the week of Nov. 7 th.
This drive was instigated when
figures came to light indicating
that of Warner Robin’s 16,000
population, only about 4,000 are
registered church members of the
various religious denominations.
The parishioners were very ac
tive in making the survey and in
helping with the work of the
Campaign. In all more than 70
persons took part in this cam
paign to “Preach the Gospel to
every Creature.” To “Teach all
Nations.”

Consecration To Immaculate Heart
Of Mary Following Masses Dec. 5
Dec. 26 Set As
Day Of Prayer
For Persecuted
(N.C.W.C. News Service)
WASHINGTON, — An appeal
“to all who love justice and hate
iniquity that they will stand with
us in prayer and in protest” a-
gainst the persecutions through
out the world “to break men’s
faith in God” has been made by
the American Hierarchy.
Before adjourning their annual
meeting at the Catholic Univer
sity of America, the Cardinals,
Archbishops and Bishops of the
nation, issued the appeal, en
titled “A Plea for Justice.”
At the same time, the Bishops
called upon the nation’s 30-mil
lion Catholics to observe Sunday,
December 26, as a day of prayer
for the Church’s persecuted and
persecutors. The day is the Feast
of St. Stephen, the Church’s first
martyr. It is expected that special
services will be held in parish
churches throughout the nation,
as was done in answer to the
Bishops' appeal last year in ob
servance of the day of prayer.
The full text of the statement
by the American Hierarchy fol

We, the Bishops of the United
States, cannot adjourn our meet
ing here without a statement of
SAVANNAH,*Ga. — By direc
tion of the most Reverend Arch
bishop, the Marian Year will be
brought to a close in the Diocese
of Savannah-Atlanta with a Sol
emn Novena in preparation for
the Feast of the Immaculate Con
ception with the Novena ending
on the Feast Day.
Although it is the desire of the
Archbishop that the Novena be
conducted in all the parishes of
the diocese, he leaves it to the
discretion of the pastors of the
smaller parishes to substitute a
Triduum for the No vena, if this
would assure a greater attendance
on the part of the Faithful.
A Triduum is to be conducted
in as many Mission chapels as the
priests in the area are able to
cover.
Following all the Masses on
Sunday, December 5th, the
priests and people are to con
secrate themselves to the Im
maculate Heart of Mary. The Act
of Consecration that will be used
is reproduced on this page of The
Bulletin.
The official closing of the Ma
rian Year will be observed by
Solemn Pontifical Masses offered
at 8 p.m. on December 8th at
the Shrine of the Immaculate
Conception, Atlanta, and the Ca
thedral of St. John the Baptist
here.
Archbishop Gerald P. O’Hara
will officiate at the ceremonies
at the Shrine in Atlanta while
Bishop Francis E. Hyland, Auxi
liary Bishop will offer the Solemn
Pontifical at the Savannah Ca-
(Continued on Page Sixteen) thedral.
An Act Of Consecration To The
Immaculate Heart Of Mary
O Mary, Virgin most powerful and Mother of mercy,
Queen of Heaven and refuge of sinners, ice consecrate ourselves
to thy Immaculate Heart.
We consecrate tv thee our very being and our ivhole life;
all that we have, all that ive love, all that we are.
To thee we give our bodies, our hearts, and our souls. To
thee do we give our homes, our families, and our country.
We desire that all that is in us, and around us may belong
to thee, and may share in the benefits of thy motherly benedic
tion.
And that this act of consecration may be truly efficacious
and lasting, we renew this day at thy feet the promise of our
baptism and of our first holy communion.
We pledge ourselves to keep the commandments of God
times the truths of our holy fatih, and to live as befits Cath
olics who are fully submissive to all the directions of the pope
and the bishops in communion with him.
We plodge ourselves to keep the commandments of God
and of His Church, and in particular to keep holy the Lord s
Day.
We likewise pledge ourselves to make the consoling prac
tices of the Christian religion, and above all, Holy Communion,
an integral part of our lives, insofar as ive shall be able to do so.
Finally, we promise thee, O glorious Mother of God and
loving Mother of men, to devote ourselves wholeheartedly to the
service of thy blessed cult, in order to hasten and assure, through
the sovereignty of thy Immaculate Heart, the coming of the
kingdom of the Sacred Heart of thy adorable Son, in our own
hearts and in those of all men, in out:.country, and in all the
world, as in heaven, so on earth. Amen.
