Bishop Entrusted
With Secret —
(Continued from Page 1)
with instructions that it is not to
be opened until after his death.
The newspaper speculates that
the Bishop’s message to Lucia
referred to the secret. However,
the Bishop always stated that he
had no knowledge of what was
contained in the envelope given
him by Lucia.
After the Bishop’s death, it was
revealed that he had left a small
amount of money to each of his
godchildren, in addition to be
quests to various charitable or
ganizations of his diocese. It was
Bishop Correia da Silva’s custom
to act as godfather to the 13th
child of every family in his
diocese.
