Christmas Tea
At Notre Dame
SAVANNAH—The Notre Dame
Book Shop was the scene of a
Christmas tea on Sunday after
noon, December 15th, honoring
the volunteer workers of this vol
untary non-profit Shop. Tradi
tional red berries and greenery
were used in the decorations and
in the bay window was a white
tree trimmed with red orna
ments under which were gifts for
the volunteers.
Mrs. John E. Porter/president
of the Book Shop Association,
greeted the volunteers, express
ing the appreciation of the Asso
ciation for their invaluable help
in the operation of the Shop. In
the absence of Mrs. James J. Col
lins, Director of the shop, who is
ill, presentation of the gifts was
made by Mrs. Frank A. Winders,
executive secretary. Special men
tion was made of the following
volunteers who have been' con
nected with the Shop since its
beginning four years ago: Miss
Marie Bettencourt, Miss Mary
McCredmond, Miss Marie Ray,
Mrs. Leta Shults, Mrs. John D.
Ware and Mrs. B. M. Werntz.
Mrs. Collins, Mrs. Winders, Mrs.
Porter, Mrs. James W. Howe and
Mrs. Wm. C. Broderick, who are
serving on the Board of Directors,
were also pioneer workers in the
organization of the Shop.
Mrs. Porter presided at the cof
fee table and refreshments were
served by Mrs. Frank L. Hester,
Jr., and Mrs. Wm. J. Oetgen.
Cards bearing numbers were giv
en to each guest as she arrived
and the prizes, a madonna ar
rangement with a background of
blue Christmas balls and gold
foliage and an arrangement of
choir boys with miniature Christ
mas trees in the background,

E. Buckley, Chairman of the party. Other volunteers of long
standing who were absent when the picture was taken are Mrs.
