Brave Comments By Dick Graee Were you among the spectators at the charity game last Wednes day nighl? If not, you missed one of the most spectacular come backs ever made by a West Geor gia basketball team. It was really a swell game. And don’t you think that the Braves are improv ing? The boys of the team express no doubt that by tournament time they will have one of the better ball clubs in the state. They are already considering themselves as the “dark horses” in the meet. Have you ever stopped to think what your support means to the team. You’ve turned out in large numbers so far and the team does appreciate it. It is your support that will inspire the boys to go higher. The boys will play just as hard before a handful of specta tors but there will something miss ing. Our boys are not “grand standers,” when they shoot or pass it is for the good of the team. There is not a boy on the squad who would shoot just to get points marked up by his name in the paper. So I’m going to go back to my practice of predicting. 1 do hereby prophecy that the Brav es will go on to win the majority of their games and will give the Georgia Junior College loop some thing to look up to in the tourna ment at Douglas this year. Also I say that the team which defeats the Braves in the Southern Junior College Tourney at Chattanooga will win the cup. And if no team is capable of turning the Braves back, week, I guess that West Geor gia will bring home the bacon. Last Saturday at the Junior Col lege Meeting in Macon the tourna ment was awarded to Douglas. New stomping grounds for the Braves. If Manager Cole will behave the trip might be a success. W. G. C. Braves Lose To Young Harris The West Georgia Braves drop ped a hard fought game to the strong Young Harris five last Thursday night at the Warren Arena in Atlanta as a preliminary to the Warren Company-Cel tic game. Playing very good ball the local cagesters were in the lead several times and in the closing moments of play it looked as if they might win. However, the Young Harris team managed to pull out in front and stay there until they won 41-51. West Georgia entered the game with a re-vamped line-up and the entile game was marked by fre quent substitutions by both teams. Goss at the center position took top scoring honors with 15 points, one more than Carson, Young Harris forward. Grace and Bell of West Georgia and Harrell of Young Harris led the other players with 7, <s and !) points respectively. The line-ups: West Ga.—4l V. Harris—sl Gordon, 5 F Carson, 14 Smith, F Harrell, 9 Goss, 15 C Anderson, 4 Scott G Garrett, 5 Griffin, 2 G Wages, 1 Substitutions: Young Harris: Ar cher (4), Prince, (2), Patillo, (5), Miles, (2), Shuller, (2). West Geor gia: Grace, (7), Bell, (8). ATLANTA JOURNAL WIRE PHOTO SPORTS EDITORIAL FEATURES DAN BREWSTER, Agent Carrollton, Ga. We Appreciate Your Business THE HUB W. W.
