Catholic Charities of South Georgia distributes aid locally
S ister Patricia Brown, SSMN,
LCSW, director of Catholic
Charities of South Georgia, reports
$2,200 was distributed locally in the
Diocese of Savannah for hurricane
relief. Responding to requests for aid to
parishioners hit hard by Hurricane Irma,
Catholic Charities of South Georgia
provided $1,200 dollars, donated by Our
Lady of Grace Church, North Dakota,
to Our Lady Star of the Sea Church,
St. Mary's. An additional $1,000 from
the O'Neill Fund went to Saint Francis
Xavier Church, Brunswick.
Nationally Catholic Charities of the
USA donated $2 million to Hurricane
Harvey relief. An additional $2 million
was provided to aid victims of Hurricane
Irma in Florida.
Catholic Charities USA is the offi
cial domestic relief agency of the U.S.
Catholic Church. Catholic Charities
USA is asking people to support their
Hurricane Maria relief efforts by donating
online, by phone at +1 (800) 919-9338 or
by texting CCUSADISASTER to 71777.
One hundred percent of donated funds go
directly toward disaster efforts.

ABPP, president and CEO of Catholic
Charities USA provided an update on
Hurricane Emergency Response dona
tions as of Sept. 25.
—$1 million was wired to Puerto Rico.
— Teams are waiting to deploy
to Puerto Rico as the airport is not
functional and there is no housing.
—Funds have been wired to the U.S.
Virgin Islands, for the devastation in Saint
Croix.
— Additional funds will be distributed
to the directors of Catholic Charities in
Texas and Florida.
