GEORGIA BULLETIN, THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 1968 3
Keep DeKalb Moving...
VOTE TO RE-ELECT
BRINCE
NNING
CHAIRMAN
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
DeKALB COUNTY
An inherited deficit of two million dollars has been
turned into a reserve of over five million dollars. For the
first time in DeKalb history, for a period of a year and a
half, money was not borrowed against anticipated revenue
to operate your government.
The Sanitation Department has grown from 33
worn-out trucks and 30 routes to 126 modern trucks and
78 regularly scheduled routes. You have twice a week
garbage pickup instead of once a week.
A brand new fleet of 53 police cars were pur
chased ... a new police communications was purchased.
Raises have been given to our fine policeman to bring
them to a living wage.
Six new fire stations have been built, staffed and
equipped. A new snorkel truck has been purchased.
Firemen also have been raised to a decent wage standard.
New recreation facilities for youths and adults
include an 18 hole golf course and a tennis center. Ten
neighborhood recreation centers and ten swimming pools
I
are in operation, with others scheduled for the future.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?
The Manning Administration has on the planning board a
three stage multi-million dollar capital improvements
program to be launched in early 1969, including:
Building and rebuilding of roads, underpasses, overpasses,
traffic safety and control devices; helicopters for our fire
and police programs; more libraries; expanded health
facilities; more incinerators; more roads and sidewalks for
our schools; expansion of the water and sewer systems.
All of these - and more - will be accomplished WITH NO
INCREASE IN TAXES under Brince Manning's contin
ued administration.
Under the Manning Administration DeKalb has seen more
than 500 million dollars in new construction; a new
Courthouse built and equipped; two empty libraries
stocked and staffed; over 200 miles of county roads and
streets paved and resurfaced; construction started to
double the size of DeKalb General Hospital. All these
things -- and more - were done with no new bond money
and a DECREASE in your general tax levy. This is the
record of the Brince Manning Administration ... a record
of progress, honesty, efficiency. Let's keep DeKalb
moving ahead. Vote for Brince Manning.
