i PAGE 3 — The Georgia Bulletin, March 12,1987 AROUND THE ARCHDIOCESE Evangelization Committee Sets Day of Recollection . “Christ, the Divine Heal er’’ is the theme for the fourth annual Day of Recollection, to be held at * St. Pius X High School on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a m. to 2 p.m. The day is sponsored by the Arch- ' diocesan Committee on Evangelization, and its purpose is to give Catholics an opportunity during the ‘ middle of Lent to prepare for Easter. This year’s preachers are Father Bob Poandl, Glenmary, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Blairsville; Father Cayet Mangiaracina, O.P., paro chial vicar of Holy Cross Church in Tucker; and Father Richard Lopez, religion instructor at St. Pius X High School. Each will base his sermon on one of the healing miracles of Christ. The day also allows time for meditation, spiritual reading, spiritual direc tion, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The day is divided into three parts, with preaching at 10:15 a m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:15 p.m. Mass will be offered at 12:15 p.m. Confessors will be available through out the day. Coffee and soft drinks will be available for those who wish to bring a light lunch. Notre Dame Book Store will have a selection of spiritual books for sale, and baby-sitting services will be provided. Charity Auction, Dinner At St. Pius Sacraments, Scripture Courses Offered St. Pius X High School's fifth annual charity auc tion, “Sale the 7 Seas," will open with a preview party on Friday, March 27, from 7 to 10 p.m., followed by an auction dinner on Satur day, March 28, beginning at 6 p.m. The Friday evening par ty, free and open to the public, offers free refresh ments, a mini-auction, and entertainment, as well as an opportunity to preview the items to be auctioned the next evening. JOHN BRAY House Painting-Remodeling (404) 477-8874 The Archdiocesan Office of Religious Education in con junction with Loyola University of New Orleans’ Institute for Ministry Extension will offer two graduate level courses this spring: “Jewish Roots of Christian Faith” and “Sacraments and Morality.” The two ten week courses are part of Loyola University’s extension graduate degree program. The courses are open to those pursuing a graduate degree, CEU (Continuing Education Unit) certificates, or anyone wishing to audit a particular course. “Jewish Roots of Christian Faith” will be offered at St. Jude the Apostle parish on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 9 p.m. beginning April 7 and “Sacraments and Morality” will be offered on Monday evenings from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Im maculate Heart of Mary Church beginning March 30. “Jewish Roots of Christian Faith” is a survey of the Old Testament writings through the examination of major themes. “Sacraments and Morality” is a study of the new sacramental rites in the context of the long history of Chris tian sacraments and a model for ethical decision-making which can be applied to the spheres of personal life, work- profession, and socio-political issues.
