Father John Ozarowski, pastor, characterizes the church’s architecture as a “traditional blend” with an off- white stucco exterior and walnut interior. An adjoining religious education building with nine classrooms and four parish offices completes the present complex. Father Ozarowski foresees the need for a parish activities building as well as additional religious education classrooms. Saint Andrew now has 430 families. Father Ozarowski ex pects the parish to grow significantly. Its facilities are cen trally located and easily accessible on a 15-acre plot at 675 Riverside Road, Roswell. Because the acreage is located on a flood plain, construction and parking is limited to 3.8 acres by Atlanta Regional Commission regulations. Thus, the church’s present natural environment will remain in tact. Saint Andrew was begun in June, 1981, with Father Peter Ludden as its pastor. Father Ozarowski became pastor in June, 1982. Father Philibert O’Hara, M.S., currently assists him with parish duties. Since its early days, the parish has used rented area in Northridge Business Park for Mass while the church was being built. Father Ozarowski commends the efforts of the parish finance committee, chaired by Trippe Slade, and the building committee, headed by Bill McCarthy, for their help with the building project. The architects for the new buildings are Nix-Mann and Associates. Construction was a joint venture of Drake Con struction and Amacher Brothers Construction. The author of such current religious best sellers as “Well Springs” and “Song of the Bird” will speak in the school auditorium on the topic, “Eastern Reflections on Christian Belief: An Enlightened Faith.” The weekend is sponsored by Ignatius House, the Jesuit- run retreat house in Atlanta. Registration for the weekend, which does not include meals or housing, will be $60 prior to May 15 and $75 after May 15 and before July 1. There will be no admission to individual talks by Father deMello, which will take place Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sun day. There will be a closing liturgy on Sunday afternoon. Speaking of East and West Father deMello has pointed out, “It is actually not too difficult to pick the best in each culture, because what is really best is held in common by all of them. Elements which are specifically Eastern or Western are superficial, which is why so many people in the West seem to be able to plunge so beautifully and easily into Eastern thought and categories.” In Father deMello the currents of the East and West flow naturally together. As a native of India, he is culturally equipped to understand Oriental religions and their prac tices. As a Jesuit, he was formed largely by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in a Western tradition. This blend ing of Eastern and Western spirituality and prayer was guided and deepened by his studies of scripture and systematic theology. Marist High School is located at 3790 Ashford-Dunwoody Rd., N.E., Atlanta. For more information, call Ignatius House, weekdays between 9 a m. and 5 p.m. at 255-0503. Limited space is available for the weekend and registra tions must be sent by mail. BATHTUB RESURFACING Are Your Loved Ones Protected?
