Reverend Monsignor John F. McDonough, vicar general
of the archdiocese of Atlanta, with the approval of Arch
bishop Thomas A. Donnellan, announces the following
priestly appointments, effective Thursday, June 11, 1987:
PASTORATE ASSIGNMENTS
REVEREND JAMES P. ADAMS, from parochial vicar at
Saint Jude’s, Atlanta, to pastor at Saint Joseph’s,
Washington.
REVEREND JOHN S. ADAMSKI, from sabbatical to
pastor at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Atlanta.
REVEREND WILLIAM E. CALHOUN, from pastor at
Saint John Vianney, Lithia Springs, to pastor at Saint
Mary's, Toccoa, and care of the Mission to be established at
Commerce.
REVEREND EDWARD J. DILLON, from residence at
Saint Jude's, Atlanta, to pastor at Holy Spirit, Atlanta.
REVEREND JOHN C. DRUDING, from pastor at Saint
Mary's, Toccoa, to pastor at Holy Trinity, Peachtree City;
also, chaplain at the Hartsfield International Airport
Chapel, Atlanta.
REVEREND JOHN C.K. FALLON, from pastor at Saint
Joseph’s, Washington, to pastor at Saint Joseph’s, Athens.

New Administrator
Named For Cathedral
Monsignor John F. McDonough, who has been ad
ministrator of the Cathedral of Christ the King since 1972,
will be stepping down from that position in June. Father
Richard Kieran, pastor of St. Joseph's parish in Athens,
will become the new administrator of the Cathedral.
These were among new priestly assignments announced
this week.
Monsignor McDonough will continue as vicar general of
the archdiocese and is overseeing daily affairs since the re
cent illness of Archbishop Thomas Donnellan. He will also
serve as a parochial vicar at Holy Spirit parish.
Father Kieran was secretary for education for the arch
diocese for eight years from 1974 to 1982, coordinator of
the Hispanic apostolate from 1977 to 1982 and spiritual
director of the Cursillo movement from 1965 to 1983. He
became pastor of Holy Family parish in Marietta in Oc
tober 1982, following the death of Father John Mulroy, and
pastor of St. Joseph’s in Athens in 1983.
Several priests will also become pastors for the first time,
including Father James Adams, Father Edward Dillon,
Father Joseph Peacock and Father Richard Wise.
Archbishop Enters
Rehabilitation Center
Archbishop Thomas Donnellan was transferred Monday,
May 18, to the Rehabilitation Center at Emory University
Hospital in Atlanta.
The center provides intensive physical, occupational and
speech therapy to stroke victims. The archbishop has been
hospitalized at St Joseph’s Hospital since May 1 when he
suffered a stroke that affected his right side. It is not known
how long the archbishop will undergo treatment at the
Rehabilitation Center.
DEACONS’ ORDINATION — The main aisle
of the Cathedral of Christ the King May 16 as 27
men are ordained to the permanent diaconate.
Another 24 will be ordained May 23.
