The Church’s traditional
dedication ceremony and
an ecumenical prayer ser
vice will make up the
weekend celebrations at St.
Lawrence parish in
Lawrenceville, Nov. 21 and
22, as a new sanctuary is
dedicated.
Saturday, Nov. 21 at 5
p.m., Bishop Michael J.
Begley, retired bishop of
Charlotte, N.C., will of

Mass. Father Ken Bayer,
pastor, and Father John
DeVore, parochial vicar,
will concelebrate the Mass.
The parish is staffed by the
Missionaries of St. Francis

Festivities will continue
on Sunday with an
ecumenical prayer service
beginning at 3 p.m. Rev.
Robert Mitchell, pastor of
Christ the Lord Lutheran
Church, Lawrenceville,
will be the homilist at the
prayer service. Open house
and a reception will follow.
Father Bayer and Rever

closely together to promote
ecumenism between their
two congregations. On the

Dear Bishop McCormack:
Please send me detailed information about a Gift Annuity with the Propagation

November, 1973, and the
mission became a parish in
June, 1974. At that time 185
families made up the
parish. The parish now has
680 families.
“Many of us have moved
here to St. Lawrence from
‘someplace else,’” “says
Arlene Wilson, a member
of the parish building com
mittee. “We are comfort
able here. Everyone is our
friend here; we are loved
here in this place...We pray
this spirit of caring and
sharing will always remain
an integral part of our
parish family.”
Plans for the new sanc
tuary began in the spring of
1983. The new church will
seat 600. Its Mary Chapel,
for daily use, seats 60. A
shrine depicting St.
Lawrence with the
treasures of the Church —
beggars, the lame, orphans
and widows — will be a
feature in the entrance of
the new church.
The theme for the dedica
tion is “What is this
place...our heart, our
home, our people.’’
Parishioner Jim Stasul
commented: “Although
our newly dedicated
church building is made of
wood and stone, our new
home was built by prayers,
God’s love and the
generosity of the members

the new structure; TDM
