(Photo by Jim Alexander) Engaged Encounter Celebration Father Glenn Vincent Jeanmarie, a priest of the archdiocese of New Orleans, will be guest revivalist for the annual Fall Revival at St. An thony’s Church, 928 Gordon St., S.W. Services will begin Monday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m., and continue through Thursday, Oct. 26. Theme of the series will be “An Invitation to a Power-Filled Life.” Father Jeanmarie will preach at the two Sunday Masses, 8:30 and 11:30 a.m., Oct. 22. Topic for Oct. 23 will be “Wrapped Up, Tied Up, and Tangled Up,” for Oct. 24, “Everything Will be All Right,” for Oct. 25, “Turn It Over To The Master Man,” and Oct. 26, “The Man In The Mirror.” St. Anthony’s parish choirs will participate. Guest choirs performing will be from Ben Hill United Methodist, Central United Methodist, and the Interdenominational Theological Center. Father Jeanmarie was ordained for the arch diocese of New Orleans in 1977 and is presently working on a master of theology degree from the Institute of Black Catholic Studies at Xavier Universi ty in his native city. He is AIDS Program Set Catholic Engaged En counter will celebrate its 10th anniversary in the archdiocese of Atlanta with festivities to be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. The evening will begin with Mass at 7 p.m., follow ed by refreshments and dancing. Dress will be casual. All past weekend participants, clergy and laity are invited. The church is located at 535 Rucker Road in Alpharet ta. Catholic Engaged En counter is a marriage preparation program that is ministered and staffed by volunteer married couples and priests. It is a weekend experience that starts at 8 p.m. on Friday evening and ends at ap proximately 4 p.m. on Sun day. The weekend format is a series of short presenta tions about different aspects of marriage. After each presentation, the engaged couple is given time to reflect both in dividually and as a couple. The presentations and reflection times help the engaged couples deepen their relationship and help them further prepare for the sacrament of matri mony. The weekend experi ence is completely private. The first weekend in Atlanta was held in Suwanee in 1979 with eight engaged couples attending. It has grown and 19 weekends are scheduled in 1990 with an expected average attendance of 25 engaged couples per weekend. The volunteer community that presents these weekends has grown from four couples and two priests in 1979, to 22 couples and 11 priests today. The Archdiocesan AIDS Task Force will present the program which will be held in the education building beginning at 8 p.m. The panel of presenters includes Father Alan Dillmann and Sister Mary Jane Herlick, OP, both of whom are involved in pastoral ministry to per sons with AIDS; a physi cian, Dr. E. Marston Roscoe; Steven Schmidt, an economist; Diane Con nolly, the sister of an AIDS victim; and George Kish, a person living with AIDS.
