PRATT, CARVER WIN
Edwin Pratt, (Liberal, Miami, Fla.) has
been elected by the student body of Clark
College to serve as President of the Clark
College Student Council for the school
term 19gl-52, it was announced' in Davaga
Auditorium on May 18.
A second voting, which came about as
a result of the inability of ballot counters
to decide on what grounds a ballot should
be considered invalid, showed that Ed-
w|in Pratt had defeated Richard Byrd,
(People’s-Abington, Va.), his only op
ponent, by 37 votes.
Miss Avis Carver, (People’s-Atlanta)
was elected in the first voting to serve as
Secretary of the Council during the next
school term. Her only opponent was Miss
Johnetta Henderson, (Liberal-Chatta-
nooga, Tenn.)
After being declared eligible to run for
the office by the student body, which
voted unanimously that sophomores, who
will be juniors the following year, should
be eligible to run for the office of presi
dent, Edwin Pratt won the election with
209 votes to a total of 172 for Byrd. This
total of 381 votes represents less than
half the number of students enrolled at
Clark.
Pratt and Miss Carver will assume of
fice in September.
In the voting last year William Breed
ing, (People’s-Birmingham) won the of
fice of Student Council President by a
landslide, over William Stanley, (Lib
eral-Athens, Ala.).

Miss Eula Jones, Chattanooga, Tennes
see, was recently elected by the Atlanta
chapter of the Alpha Kappa Delta Nation
al Honorary Sociology Fraternity to serve

Exchange Day Held
Spelman, Morehouse, and Morris Brown
sent senior class representatives to
Clark’s Davage Auditorium on May 23
to speak in connection with the annual
observance of “Senior Day” and three
Clark seniors visited those colleges dur
ing the final week of the school year on
similar missions.
As it has been the custom for a number
of years, the senior class of each school
in the university system annually ex
changes senior representatives to speak at
the Senior Exchange Day program held at
each of the four undergraduate colleges
in the A. U. system.
Miss Eula Jones spoke this year on be
half of Clark seniors at Spelman; Gerald
Johnson spoke at Morris Brown; and Hor
ace Scott spoke at Morehouse. Mr. Scott
as president of the chapter during the
1951-’52 school year.
Miss Jones plans to hold office at At
lanta University where she will be en
rolled in the A. U. School of Social Work

Women’s Ensemble
In Spring Concert
Miss Ollie Brown of the Department of
Music directed the Clark Women’s En
semble in a musical concert in Davage
Auditorium on Sunday, May 20.
Among the selections rendered by the
ensemble of well-trained voices was “Lift
Thine Eyes to The Mountains” by Men
delssohn, and “The Night Has a Thousand-
Eyes.” Also on the program was “The
Chimes” by Dubussy, and “I Heard A For
est Praying” by De Rose.
Walter Willis, a freshman, appeared as
guest vocalist and sang “Elegy” and'
Giordani’s “Caro Mio Ben”. The Wom
en’s Quartet captivated the audience’
with its renditions of “Moonglow” and
“Stardust.”
