Approximately 150
thousand dollars was spent on
the Fair street construction.
Neighborhood Planning
Unit (NPU) is the organization
primarily responsible for the
construction. Its purpose is to
develop the underdeveloped
areas in metro Atlanta.
“The Fair street lighting
was one of the many, but very
important projects attained by
NPU,” said William A.
Morrell, assistant to Dr. Blake,
president of Clark College.
During February, 1979, an
Illumination Survey was
designed to ascertain the cam
pus students’ reaction to oc
currences which may be direc
tly or indirectly attributed to
the lack of proper lighting.
The results of the survey
were:
1 - The 76 percent of 300
students felt there was enough
street lights around and
within the campus.
2 - To the question walking

the Henderson Building would

Recently, the construction of

been installed by an electrical

A major automotive
corporation will soon be open
ing a new distribution center
in Atlanta that will specialize
in the imported car market.
The Robert Bosch
Corporation, which is head
quartered in Stuggart, West
Germany has chosen Atlan
ta’s Gateway Park for the
location of the new warehouse
and office complex.
The Robert Bosch Company
is used a great deal in theU. S.
because of its highly technical
products.
“The distribution center is
opening to cope with the in
creasing demand for Robert
Bosch products,” said
Frederick Hohage, an
executive Vice-President of the
company.
The center will serve all
states east of the Rocky Moun-
tains and will feature
convenient docking and shop
ping facilities for shipping and
receiving.
The products moved through
the distribution center will in
clude, spark plubs, starter
motors and alternators. Also,
accessories such as horns,
lights, wiper motors and
blades.
“Atlanta was chosen as the
new location for the Robert
Bosch Corporation because of
its close proximity to the

manufacturing plant in

engines and diesel fuel injec

turing process of this plant is
completely separated from the
assembly process.
Today approximately 60
percept of all Robert Bosch
products are automotive
related with the balance
shared by home appliances,
consumer and industrial
products.
Among the industrial
products are cameras, power
tools, medical products,
hydraulics, condensers, radio
and television sets.
“Because of the importance
of the U S. market and the
demand for highly technical
fuel-efficient systems for cars,

investment in the United
States exceeds $100 million,”
said Hohage.
Before opening the new dis
tribution center in Atlanta,
Robert Bosch has operated a
warehouse in Tucker, Georgia
and has provided bulk supply
of automotive products to dis
tributors throughout the
states.
Most of the supplies that are
deported to other areas were
imported from Europe through
modern and efficient container
harbored in Savannah.
Gov. George Busbee in
troduced the new automotive
to the public last month at the
capital. He said he had the op
portunity of visiting another
center that Robert Bosch
operates in Europe.
“It is my understanding that
an excellent experience with
the Port of Savannah and the
Atlanta airport expansion
with improved customs
clearance were major factors
in the decision for Robert
Bosch Company to locate
hem,” said Gov. Busbee.
