Atlanta - The Next Entertainment Capital
BY RICHARD DARDEN
Panther Reporter
Atlanta is destined to become
the next entertainment capital.
Since the beginning of the1970’s
the city has rapidly grown.
Technological, musical,
theatrical, and vast business
growth has made it one of the
fastest and most opportune cities
in the country.
The major record companies,
movie firms, and theatrical agen-

cies are looking at Atlanta with a
lot of enthusiasm. Realizing the
expanding markets in the city,
these firms and agencies want to
make Atlanta their home base.
Singers, dancers, actors, and
musicians who are pursuing
careers in the entertainment
business will now have direct
contact with the major com
panies.
The vast growth will give its
entertainers the chance to reach
national acclaim. The level of
artistic achievement in Atlanta
will probably triple within the
next ten or more years. Believe it
or not, the making of this new
entertainment capital is well
underway.
Mr. Willie Hunter, the Emmy
award winning producer of
“Meetin’ Place,” and radio
personality for WIGO’s Rhythm
Story, which is aired on Sundays
at 6 p.m., is a part of this growing
industry.
He has been involved in the
entertainment business here in
Atlanta since 1975. The number
of shows and groups that are
evolving in Atlanta has shown
him that a growth is and has
taken place. “Atlanta will be the
next entertainment capital,’’ he
states, “and I think the 1980’s will
be the best years for the Atlanta
entertainers.”
Mr. Hunter stressed the fact

Tilting
BY RICHARD DARDEN
Panther Reporter
Have you got the “Tilt”? The
tilt is the latest new dance craze
that is taking over on Atlanta’s
dance floors. It originated in
Chicago and became popular in
Atlanta during the beginning of
February.
The tilt is a standing movement
that is characterized by the sway
ing motion of the arms. If you see
a dance that is new to you, it will
more than likely be the tilt.
The dance lovers in Atlanta
can be seen tilting at the
Limelight - Atlanta's spectacular
new disco. It can also be seen at
Mr. V’s Figure 8 and the ever
popular Ciscos Lounge. If you
have not got the tilt yet, you
better get it so - the next time
you go out you will be tilting
instead of stepping.
