Page 9 Veritas BKfr&t^ On October 31 two events will take place in the semi-great state of Georgia. The University of Georgia will have its home coming game with South Carolina and the anti-war demonstrators will march in Atlanta. To many people a football game is of more importance than the war in Southeast Asia. This must be the case since a capacity crowd is expected to attend the homecoming game. As an individual I ask everyone who plans on attending the game not to do so. There are many people who believe the United States should be in Viet Nam and they have a right to their own opinion. However, I believe a majority of the students think the U.S. should pull out of Indo-China. These are the people to whom I am appealing. If you really think that the U.S. doesn't belong in Indo-China, show it by marching in Atlanta on October 31. Some people think that peaceful demonstrations will not accomplish anything. However, it has done some good. For example, it has forced the Nixon administra tion to take certain steps to end the war. I assure you if everyone marches on October 31 we will not be ignored. This is a personal appeal not only to students but to the whole community. March against the war on October 31! Doug Hyman homecoming boycott urged Speaking before a meeting of the Georgia Moratorium Committee Oct. 20, Jim Williamson called for a boycott of this year's football homecoming which takes place on the day of the Oct. 31 war moratorium. Stating that his purpose was to place peace before revelry, Williamson said, "No football game can seem as important as one life," and "\Ne are not going to be bought off with entertainment." The Moratorium Committee then debated whether to send a contingent of Georgia students to the Atlanta peace march or to demonstrate at the homecoming game. Deciding that the rowdiness of the spectators at the game would prohibit a peaceful protest, the group voted to attend the Atlanta march instead. Also approved was the motion to support a rally in Athens at noon on Friday, Oct. 30. The rally, sponsored by SDS, will be held in front of Memorial Hall and will feature Socialist gubernatorial candidate, Linda Jenness. o#&^ round «^^~4 table Dedicated to the 86th session of the Paris Peace Conference.
