Mr. S. A. Visanskn, Jr., is in Bris
tol, Va., visiting his brother and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Sternberg.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Haas have
taken their son and daughter to spend
the summer at Long Branch, N. J.,
with their grandmother, Mrs. Cowan.
Mr. and Mrs. Haas will return to the
city shortly.
Miss Jane Morris of Dallas, Texas,
is the attractive guest of Mr. and Mrs.
Will Montag and Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Ferst.
Mr. Louis Elsas is in New York.
Mrs. Bertram Maier, Mrs. A. Hess,
and Mr. “Bucky” H ess are visiting
in Wilkesbarre, Pa. They will later go
to Wellesley, Mass., for the gradu
ation of Miss Carol Hess from Welles
ley College.
Miss Mary Hartman, of Chicago,
arrives June 13th, to be the guest of
Dr. and Mrs. David Marx.
The friends of Mr. Louis Fox, of
Birmingham, will be glad to know that
he is recuperating from his recent ill
ness. Mr. Fox is now making his
home in Atlanta.
Mr. Gabriel Schoen has returned
from Florida.
Miss Fannie Taffel was hostess at
a dance on the evening of June 9th in
honor of her recent graduation from
the Atlanta Liw School.
The Misses Esther Levy and Bessie
Giffen are receiving congratulations
on the occasion of their recent gradu
ations from Emory University.
Mr. Mike Tafl'el and Dr. Benj. Ro-
senblum have motored up to New
York.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hirsch leave
next week for the graduation of their
daughter, Ernestine, from Wheaton
College, Mass.
Miss Clara Steinheimer is visiting
in Savannah, Ga.
The friends of Mrs. Leopold J. Haas
will be glad to know that she is im
proving at Davis-Fisher Sanitorium.
Mrs. Max Kuttner has returned to
her home in Rome, Ga.
Mrs. Carl Goettinger and son, Leon,
have returned from a visit of several
weeks in New Orleans, La.
Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Lefkotf have
just returned from a two weeks auto
mobile trip to Baltimore and points
east.
Miss Eva Boss is now visiting her
sister, Mrs. Charles P. Lipman in
Brooklyn, New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Meltzer are the
proud parents of a boy.
Mrs. S. H. Kulbersh, her daughter
Fannie, and son David, are leaving for
Europe on June 19 on the steamship
Aquitania, visiting relatives in London
and Poland.
Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Jacobs have
returned from a visit of several weeks
in Atlantic City.
Mr. Harold Hirsch, Jr., has returned
from Tome School, Port Deposit, Md.
He will be a member of this year’s
Confirmation Class.
Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair Jacobs are
in New York.
Mrs. I. H. Hirsch has returned from
a visit to her son and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Edgar Haas, in Memphis,
Tenn.
Mr. Lou Jackson, of Hahira, Ga.,
was a recent visitor in Atlanta.
JEWISH WOMEN’S CLUB
The Jewish Women’s Club met June
10 at the clubhouse. According to the
new by-laws this will be the first
meeting to be held, and the last meet
ing of the club year. The next meeting
will be in September. A Shovoth pro
gram was given at this meeting to
observe Shovoth (the feast of weeks),
which is now being celebrated. Plans
were made for the big carnival and
barbecue to be given June 30 at Idle-
wood. Mrs. M. L. Kahn presided.
SHEARITH ISRAEL SISTERHOOD
SPONSORS BENEFIT
BRIDGE
According to an announcement of
Mrs. J. Minsk, chairman of the Shear-
ith Israel Sisterhood, a Benefit Bridge
will be held Tuesday afternoon, June
18th at 3 o’clock at the Jewish Wo
man’s Club on Washington street.
This Bridge is being given by the
women of the Sisterhood to help raise
the necessary funds for completing
the new Shearith Israel Synagogue on
Washington street. The Sisterhood has
already contributed a very substantial
sum towards the new building.
It is planned to make this Bridge
the most successful Bridge that the
Sisterhood has ever had. Beautiful
prizes have already been secured, both
for the winners of each table, and for
the consolation prizes. All are cor
dially invited to attend this Bridge.
Tickets can still be secured by calling
the Chairman at Ivy 2424.

LUNCHEON
Hadassah’s donars’ luncheon took
place last week at the Jewish Wo
man’s Club, which served 188 women.
The hall was beautifully decorated
and each table was decorated with
baskets of flowers and silver candle-
sticks holding unlighted blue tapers
The color scheme of blue and white
was carried out. A program was given
Mrs. B. Segle rendered two lovely vo-
cal selections. Mrs. Seigle has a con
tralto voice. Miss Addie Van Stavoren
a pupil of Miss Piker, danced three
times, each time delighting and sur-
prising her audience with her beauti
ful talent and gracious charm.
Cantor Lipitz rendered two vocal
solos. Next followed the speaker of
the luncheon, Mrs. Winer, of Chat-
tanooga, Tenn., president of the
southern region of Hadassah. Mrs.
Winer spoke on modern Zionism, and
the modern Jewish heroines, who gave
and are giving their all for the re
demption of Palestine.
Twenty young matrons acted as
waitresses, while as many more helped
to prepare the meal. Mrs. S. E. Levy
was toastmistress.
$1,000,000 was realized from this
drive.
EDUCATIONAL ALLIANCE
The graduating exercises of the Al
liance Sunday School were held Wed
nesday evening at 8 o’clock at the
Jewish Educational Alliance. Rabbi H.
H. Epstein was the principal speaker.
Mollye Rice gave the class valedic
tory. Other numbers on the program
included the invocation by Pearl Gu-
rin and the salutatory by Sarah Lef-
koff. Selections from Prophets were
read by Manuel Krugman, Dora An
drews, Ruth Danneman, Esther Kim-
mel, Fannie Turetsky, Jeanette Maz:-
ar, and Henry Greenberg. Alvin Nis-
senbaum gave a violin solo, accompa
nied by Miss Nelle Heinheimer. Meyer
Rosenstein delivered an oratory, "The
Story of the Jew.” Following the vale
dictory and the address, the graduat
ing class, led by Rosa Gilner, gave the
pledge of youth, and the announce
ment of honors and presentation of
diplomas concluded the exercises.
