er location. Most of the members of
the Congregation had moved over in
to Washington Street and finally the
Congregation, in order to insure its
future existence was compelled to seek
i a change of location. Through the un
tiring efforts of Mr. Sidney Zimmer
man, President of the Congregation,
and its Vice-President, Mr. Jake
Minsk, this location was finally se-
I cured and the work of building the
Beth-Hamidrash was begun. A build
ing committee was formed with Mr.
R. Sicro, as Chairman. This committee
consisted of Simon Zimmerman, Vice-
Chairman, L. Franklin, Secretary, and
Jake Zimmerman, Treasurer. The cam
paign for funds was placed in the
hands of Rabbi Geffen. Under his
charge was placed the Finance Com
mittee with Messrs. I. Melnick, Chair
man, and M. Rosenberg, S. H. Gold
stein, and H. Hoffman, Vice-Chairmen.
It was through the efforts of these un
tiring workers that the Beth-Hami-
| drash was completed and the initial
: work on the main auditorium of the
I Synagogue was begun.

with the- true Jewish spirit. Function

Treasurer and Mrs. Sidney Zimmer
man, Secretary of the Sisterhood. The
Committee appointed by the Sister

' other duties incidental to the con-

I ('. W. Miller, Mrs. B. Kaplan, Mrs. I.
j Clein and Mrs. T. Geffen. The Sister-
I hood has been most energetic as well
as successful in its efforts to have a
I beautiful new building for the Con
gregation. An additional activity of
the Sisterhood has been to sponsor the
work of the newly organized Sunday
School. Mrs. Paul Wolkin is in charge
of this work.
The new Synagogue contains an in
teresting feature new to Orthodox
Synagogues of this part of the country.
The gallery, in this Synagogue, encirc
les the main auditorium of worship in
a very beautiful and unique fashion.
This seating arrangement has been
used by some of the strictly Ortho
dox Congregations, recently built in
New > ork City. The beauty of the in-
. terior has been greatly enhanced by
the Oron Kodesh (Holy Ark) which
| was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Tobias
j Borochoff. Its classic lines lend dig
nity and stateliness to the everpres
ent Holiness of the Synagogue. The
Plans for the Congregation were
drawn by the very able and renowned
J architect, Mrs. Chas. A. Hopson. Mr.
| Hopson, a distinguished church and
j Synagogue architect of this city has
declared that the Synagogue is one of
the beauty spots of Atlanta and one
of the most beautiful Synagogues in
the South.
