Atlanta Council of Jewish
Women
The annual Mother and Daughter
Luncheon, which was to be given De
cember 23 by the Council of Jewish
Women, has been postponed until next
year in order not to conflict with the
lunch room sponsored by the Temple
Sisterhood. The regular meeting of
the Council will be held, however, on
the afternoon of December 23, the
place and program to he announced
shortly.
Junior Hadassah
The second Take-A-Chance night of
Junior Hadassah was held Wednesday,
December 10th, at Ampico Hall, being
devoted to Russion art and music.
Miss Lillie Bleich, Chairman, ar
ranged a very beautiful and interest
ing program, which included a piano
duet by Mesdames B. M. Brodie and
Grace Harlee; a Russian slumber song
by Miss Hortense Hughes accompanied
by Miss Eleanor McDonald; and a Rus
sian dance by Miss Freda Sullivan in
costume. Miss Eva Hadas and Mr. V.
Blivnow, students at Emory Universi
ty, presented short talks on the Rus
sian language, art, literature and mus
ic.
Miss Rose Schreiber, Chairman, in
charge of the tickets for the Will Dur
ant lecture Thursday night, December
12th, at the Atlanta Theatre, an
nounced that the results of the ticket
sale were very satisfactory.
Miss Freda Sullivan, of the Sulli
van School of Dancing, will give les
sons in tap-dancing every Wednesday
night, at 6:30 at the Jewish Educa
tional Alliance.
Young Judaean Oratorical
Contest To Be Field
December 26
It has been announced that the Ora
torical Contest of the Southern Inter
state Young Judaean Association will
he held at the Educational Alliance
Thursday evening, December 26, at
K:00 P. M. The expectation is that
there will be representatives here
from Atlanta, Savannah, New Or
leans. Chattanooga and other cities in
the Organization.
This contest is an annual contest
that is held in a different city every
year. Last year it was held in Savan
nah and the winner was Roy Brenner
of New Orleans. \\ inners of these con
tests have the honor of keeping in
their possession a Loving Cup during
the time that they are the best Ora
tors.
The Atlanta Council is sponsoring
this contest and the contest will be
followed by a dance. All the Young
Judaeans and their friends are cordi
ally invited to attend the contest and
the dance.
Louis Getfen, chairman of Southern
Interstate will preside over this con
test.
The Atlanta preliminaries for choos
ing the Atlanta representative will
take place Sunday afternoon, Decem
ber 22, at 3:00 P. M. at the Educa
tional Alliance. Nathan Blass, chair
man of the Atlanta Council will pre
side.
Young Judea
At its regular meeting last month,
the Atlanta Judaea Council elects
the following officers: Nathan Bia«s

President; Sidney Parks, Correspond

clubs in Atlanta with the possibility
that there will be many more before
the 1930 Convention is held. Besides
its social activities, each club is doing
a great deal of cultural and literary
work. An important feature of Youni
Judaea is the B. Y. J. Club in Atlar.u
This club is composed of several lead
ers and former leaders of Young Jj-
daea Clubs who provide leaders wher
necessary, and who speak at the dif
ferent club meetings, aiding and ad
vising them in their work.
