The Shearith Israel Youth
Group will hold its first dance
of the New Year from 8:00 p.m.
until 11:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan.
29, in the social hall.
The dance will be open to those
in the 9th through 12th grades.
Entertainment will be provided
by Tony “The Tiger” Taylor,
WQXI disc jockey, and refresh
ments will be served without
charge.
Dance admission will be 50c
per person or 75c per couple.
Door prizes, including a John
Romain handbag, will be

Greenberg, president of the At
lanta Bureau of Jewish Educa
tion.
The program will start at 8:00
p. m. at the Atlanta Jewish Com
munity Center and Mr. Sufott
will talk on "Israel Faces the Fu
ture.”
Bom and educated in England,
Mr. Sufott joined the Israel
Armed Forces during the War of
Liberation and was wounded in
, the defense of the Galilee. In
1950 Mr. Sufott was appointed to
the Israel Foreign Ministry
which he has served in various
capacities.
The Convocation Program will
also feature a cantata entitled
“Saga of Jerusalem” to be pre
sented by the chorus of the Cen
tral Hebrew High School under
the direction of Mrs. Julian Ja
cobs.

tis Hospital for whose benefit the
dinner will be held.
It also was revealed that Jim
Enright, prominent sports editor
of a large Chicago daily news
paper, will attend the dinner.
Mr. Jacobs will receive a pla
que symbolic of the hospital’s
highest award for service. Mr.
Jacobs is honorary vice president
of the hospital.

A brunch meeting of the Year-
Round Women’s Division of the
Atlanta Jewish Welfare Fund,
will be held Friday, Jan. 14, 11:00
a. m. at the Progressive Club.
In announcing this event. Mrs.
Harold Marcus, president of the
Women’s Division stated: “This
pre-campaign meeting will not
only offer the members an op
portunity to meet and pay tribute
to the new Campaign Leadership
but it will also demonstrate the
philosophy of strong partnership
between all component parts
which are inalterably bound up
with promoting the progress of
the year-round Women’s Division
and the Campaign.”
Highlighting the meeting will be
reports on: “The Mission to Israel”
by participants, Mrs. Leon Frohsin
and Dr. Rose Lahman; the Coun
cil of Jewish Federations and
Welfare Funds Assembly held in
Montreal, by delegate. Mrs. Israel
Wilen; and the United Jewish
Appeal Conference recently held
in New York, by Mrs. Sam Alter-
man, delegate and member of the
UJA National Women’s Division

Leadership Will Meet
Workmen's
Circle Concert
On Sunday
The Workmen’s Circle branches
of greater Atlanta will present
their 55th consecutive Yiddish
concert on Sunday, Jan. 16, at
8:15 p. m. at the Atlanta Jew
ish Community Center.
This year’s concert, “The
Golden Treasure,” features a cast
of four outstanding Yiddish stage
and radio performers—Mort Free
man, baritone; Shifra Lerer, folk
singer; Herschel Gendel, humor
ist, and Pola Kadison, pianist.
“The Golden Treasure” is a Yid-
dish-American revue by Wolf
Younin under the direction of
David Licht.
Mort Freeman’s baritone voice
has been acclaimed by audiences
throughout the world. He has ap
peared as soloist in New York’s
most important concert halls, and
his talents have been heard on
television and radio as well.
Both Shifra Lerer and Herschel
Gendel are outstanding artists in
their own right and Mr. Gendel
has been acclaimed the most out
standing and original interpreter
of Jewish wit, satire and folklore.
Pola Kadison has accompanied
the most prominent artists of the
Yiddish theatre and concert stage.
Admission to this concert is
open to the public for $1.50 and
the monies raised will go to sup
port the many educational and
cultural institutions of the Work
men’s Circle.

A meeting of the Bat Shalom
Study Group was to be held at
the home of Mrs. Larry Klinger,

January 13. Miss Sandra Lafko-
witz was to lead the discussion
on “Abravanel."
Mrs. Michael Allswang will de
monstrate the preparation of mat-
zoh balls to the Bat Shalom cook
ing class at 8:15 p. m., Thursday,
January 20, at the home of Mrs.
Larry Klinger, 1653 Anita Place,
