The Center bowlers went right
along with our town by also be
coming big league last week, and
even had their number one fan,
none other than Nate Lovinger’s
mother, in attendance—good to
see her back again, especially
since it helped her boy bowl bet
ter—two weeks ago he had a 610
set, and last week a big 213
single and 570 series—take this
for what you will, but Mom Lov-
inger didn’t show up until her
Nate started on his comeback,
which took exactly all season . . .
High man for the nite was Dave
Hochbaum, who had his first set
over 600 in two years or more,
this was a good one—a whopping
220-611 . . .
Second high was the guy most
likely to be named the Jewish
Batman, Sandy Winston, who
somehow does everything he
tries good (especially mouthing)
but we must give credit where
credit is due (as much as it hurts
us) so here’s a rare compliment
to Sandy (Ratman) Winston —
he’s tough—this time with a 216-
597, which keeps him exactly one
pin ahead of Numbers Aronin for
the high average trophy, with
only two more bowling nights left
... In third high for the nite,
Ed Rechtman, the auto glass king,
skated to a smooth 215-592 series
—I remember when he couldn’t
break a light bulb with that ball
he heaves, but bet a guy 50 cents
a game and he becomes a hero
overnight . . .
Honorable mention goes to this
writer, who has to blow his own
horn once in a while (and that
very weakly) who ended up the
nite with a 222-game, a 578 set,
and the beginning of a gorgeous
hernia ... In high singles, Jerry
Barmann popped a big 235 after
starting off with a weak 124 —
look. Jerry baby, you got to take
the bad with the good . . .
Sandy Misikoff racked up a 219
single plus setting a record for
most fouls in one game—5 times
. . . And we wouldn’t hear the last
of it if we left out this score—
Morris (The Munster) Robbins
lucked into a 200-558 series . . .
Big Deal . . . Funniest sight of
the nite — Stan Silverman and
Frank Alexander side by side on
the alleys—looked like Lard and
Hardy of the old time movies (if
you wonder which is Lard, you
don’t know Stan Silverman) . . .
That’s it on the bowling bit,
but you should be interested and
very proud of the following news
— Eddie Robbins, Director of
Camp Barney Medintz, reports
that both sessions are filled to
the brim (and so are both lakes),
which is a great accomplishment
for our camp, just going into its
fourth season . . . Eddie is also
proud of the fact that they have
added two new war canoes (un
saleable Molly Brauns?, (a new
high diving board (into the
water, yet), and a beautiful new
building, the Doris Zaban Chap
el, which will be dedicated June
12th, and we hope that all of you
readers will find the time to come
up to the camp for that cere
mony and honor the guy respon
sible for making it possible —
Erwin Zaban . . . Congratula
tions are in order to Eddie, Bar
bara Stein, and the entire camp
committee and staff!
Thats the tenth—see you in the
alley next week.
