'Starlite' Ready
For Musicals,
Opera, Ballet
The shows are set, the stars
are on the way, and the chorus
kicking high! Ann Blyth is look
ing forward to seeing her “fav
orite audience’’ again, Jane Mor
gan is brushing up on her French,
and Edie Adams is learning how
to operate a switchboard. Jane
Powell is anticipating her first
ride on a real ‘Carousel’ (and it
will be a real one), Gordon Mac-
Rae is looking forward to seeing
Atlanta’s ‘beautiful mornings,’
and Danny Dayton can’t wait to
bring ancient Rome back to At
lanta.

higher than ever before. Season
tickets for Theater Under the
Stars may still be purchased by
calling 875-8338 or they may be
purchased at the box office in
the Howell House,
Municipal Theater has just
completed plans for its third an
nual Grand Opera at the Park.
On August 24, Grand Opera at
the Park will present David Blair
and Maryon Lane in the com
plete “Sleeping Beauty” ballet by
Tchaikovsky.
The second highlight of the
Grand Opera at the Park season
will be the presentation of Gia
como Puccinis “Tosca.” Appear
ing at the Puccini heroine Tosca
will be soprano Phyllis Curtin
who will make her premiere ap
pearance here. Singing opposite
Miss Curtin will be Met favorite
Richard Tucker. This will mark
Mr. Tucker’s third appearance
with Grand Opera at the Park,
having appeared here previously
in “La Traviata” and last season
in “Carmen.” “Tosca” will also
employ the talents of the singing
and dancing chorus.

BBG-Amirah News
At a combination installation
and beau dance on April 30,
BBG-Amirah installed these of
ficers for the year 1966-67:
Doris Erman, president; Sheila
Landau and Terry Newman, vice
presidents; Marcia Glass and Pam
Burke, secretaries; Liz Spiegel,
treasurer; Michaele Alperin, re
porter, Mindy Iscoe, historian;
Elaine Ellison and Rachel Bena-
tor, delegates.
Chapter beau, Marvin Boaz,
and beau court, David Geller and
Jon Weinberg, gave members a
barbecue on May 21. The enter
tainment was a song sung by
Marvin, David, and a Jon, with a
stanza about each girl.
Sunday, May 22, Amirah, along
with the girls’ brother chapter,
SOI, attended a program led by
Mrs. Leon Cantor from the Anti-
Defamation League. The main
topic discussed was the impor
tance of making an effort to look
at things objectively. We were
stimulated by this thought-pro
voking afternoon and hope to
participate in other such things
in the future.

BBG-Chaverim
BBG-Chaverim has quite a rec
ord for the short six months since
the formers formed a new chap
ter of B’nai B’rith Girls with
Rosanne Diamondas advisor.
At the beginning of the year
seven executives were elected.

Alice Franklin, secretary; Sheryl
Marks, treasurer; Jean Green-
blatt, reporter; Barbara Micha-
love, historian, and Linda Marcus,
chaplain.
The name “Chaverim” means
a group of friends, or comrades.
Colors are light blue and maroon.
First meeting of the “friends”
was held January 16 when elect
ed officers and decided upon a
name for the chapter. During the
next few meetings plans were
made for the year and most of
these hav been carrid out.
First accomplishmnt was “Op
eration Bookstrap” in which
members collected 425 books for
a library for underprivileged
children in Vine City. On April
17, Mrs. Lila Reisman came and
spoke on her life in Israel. Later
in the year on April 22, an Oneg
Shebbat was held. Memebers at
tended services at the Ahavath
Achim Synagogue and then went
to the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Adolf Schreck for the Oneg.
Next project, a car wash, was
held May 15 at the American Oil
Service Station on West Paces
Ferry Rd., N. W. It was a great
financial success.
Then on May 22, 1966, members
held their long awaited Mother-
Daughter Tea at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. S. R. Greenblatt. About
50 people came. It was a big suc

Rosenfeld will be accompanied
to New York by Mrs. Michael
Gershon.
Mrs. I. F. Sterne is in Mont
gomery for the graduation of her
granddaughter Mary Lynn Baum,
daughter of Mrs. Frances Baum
and the late Sam Baum. Mary
Lynn’s aunt, Marian Sterne of
New York, will also be present
for the graduation.
Ronald Weinstein, son of Mrs.
Hannah Weinstein and the late
Dr. Alfred A. Weinstein, will re
ceive his degree in Athens from
the University of Georgia this
weekend.
