To Meet in Baltimore
B’nai B’rith Men and Women
of District 5 will convene in
Baltimore on June 12-15. Rabbi
Jay Kaufman, executive vice
president of B’nai B’rith, will
give the keynote address at a
joint meeting session on Sun
day night, June 12.
On hand to bring greetings
will be Maryland’s Governor J.
Millard Tawes, Baltimore Mayor
Theodore R. McKeldin, B’nai
B’rith Women District 5 Presi
dent Mrs. Melvin Siegel, and
president of the Maryland State
Asssociation of B’nai B’rith
Lodges, Philip Kershner.
Special entertainment will be
a choral presentation by the
Aviva Chapter B’nai B’rith Girls
from Atlanta, under the direc
tion of Morton Gininger.

Annual reports are to be pres
ented by the district director,
Mrs. Maurice Goldberg, Mrs.
Siegel, and Mrs. Paul Lipkin,
president elect.
Mrs. Israel Wilen, Atlanta,
will preside at the Awards
Luncheon on Monday. At this
time chapters will be recognized
by the district chairmen for out
standing accomplishments.
“Vital Issues of the Decade”
will be the theme for a joint
Anti-Defamation League pro
gram on Monday evening. Theo
dore Freedman, Southern re
gional director of ADL, will
serve as moderator of a panel to
discuss these issues. Panelists
will include Hon. Charles L.
Weltner, Congressman, Atlanta;
Robert R Nathan, attorney,
author and economist, Washing
ton, and Benjamin Epstein, na
tional director ADL, New York.
A summation will be given by
Jason Silverman, Maryland-
D.C. director, ADL.
A joint luncheon on Tuesday
will highlight community and
veterans service. Dr. Louis Kap
lan, president, Baltimore He
brew College, will address all
delegates at the Adult Jewish
Education program on Tuesday
evening.

Ben Berliner, 76, of Savan
nah died May 24.
Funeral services were held
May 28 with Rabbi A. I. Rosen
berg and Rabbi I. M. Aisen-
stark officiating. Interment was
in Bonaventure Cemetery.
A retired merchant and a na
tive of Poland, he had lived in
Savannah since 1921. He was a
member of Congregation B’nai
B’rith Jacob, the JEA and of
Chevra Kadisha.
Survivors include tw» sonp,
Jack and Sam Berliner; two
daughters, Mrs. Henry White-
man, Savannah, and Mrs. Leo
Rudick of Charleston; six grand
children and two great grand
children.
Miss Minnie Levin
Miss Minnie Levin, 58, of At
lanta, died Thursday, June 2.
Graveside services were held
June 3 in Greenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include three bro
thers, Sol, Barron and Morris
Levin, all of Atlantna.

ed as president of B’nai B’rith
District Grand Lodge No. 5.
Currently serving as presi
dents are Mrs. Melvin Siegel,
Savannah, and Samuel Nieberg,
Miami.

Samuel H. Berman, 66, of At
lanta died Friday, June 3.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, June 5, at Blanchard’s
Chapel with Rabbi Harry H.
Epstein and Cantor Isaac Good-
friend officiating. Interment was
in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Berman was bom in Po
land and was a member of
Ahavath Achim Congregation.
He was a retired restaurant op
erator.
Survivors include his wife, the
former Zelda Jacobson; a son,
Dr. Jerome D. Berman, Atlan
ta; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert R.
Karp, Atlanta; three brothers,
Morris Berman, San Francisco,
Harry Berman, San Mateo,
Calif., and David Berman, New
York; two sisters, Mrs. J. M.
Rosenfeld, Atlanta, and Mrs.
Morris Hirsch, Los Angeles.
Mrs. Max Moore
Mrs. Max Moore of Perry died
Sunday, May 22.
Funeral services were held
May 24 in Perry with Rabbi
Pierce Annes officiating. Inter
ment was in Sherah Israel Cem
etery, Macon.
A native of Chicago, Mrs.
Moore was the former Miss
Kate Cohn, daughter of the late
Solomon Cohn and Mrs. Fannie
Cohn. She and her husband
came to Perry 39 years ago.
Survivors include her hus
band, a daughter, Mrs. Otto
Wietzenhom of Dade City, Fla.;
a son, Herbert Moore, Perry; six
grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs.
Harry Horwich, Mrs. Anne Har
ris, Mrs. Sam Robinson, all of
Chicago and Mrs. Sara Levin
of Detroit; a brother, William
Cohn and a number of nieces
and nephews.
